    Pros

Helping the hearing impaired, working for an innovative company on the forefront of technological advances.

    Cons

A lot of red tape by management, slow and unresponsive HR, extreme favoritism

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiding in meetings all day and help the customers! Phonak was a great place to work, and then everything went bad quickly.

I have been working at Phonak full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The benefits are decent and the hours are ok.

    Cons

Absolutely no accountability at all. Minimal leadership support. Training is seriously lacking. If you don't mind being overworked and under paid and under appreciated then sure, this may be the job for you. It seems that Phonak is too concerned with filling positions quickly that they are hiring employees with no work ethic. There is almost no team work and no sense of responsibility from the vast majority of employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more concerned about your employees that work hard and are present every day than the point system for calling off. If Phonak continues on this path the turnover is only going to continue to increase. Work on communication as well as presence. Show more support to your employees. It is almost impossible to find a manager when one is needed.

    Pros

It's a job and that's a stretch. You may find that you work with some good coworkers below the management level.

    Cons

Do yourself a favor and keep your self-respect and look elsewhere. Treated like a number and there is a constant push to make MORE. Workloads and management expectations always increase over time. You have to be a robot to succeed there. Told frequently that "you are replaceable" told where the door is. Great/outstanding hard working people have left the company and the talent loss shows, moral is very low. Absolutely zero employee loyalty, you can be fired for any or no reason no matter how long you've been there. One person was fired for not working OT on a Saturday and one person was fired for being sick and in the hospital. Several mangers have no experience in the field they are in and cannot lead people. After the move in December 2013 to the new location it is now the “WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR” No opportunities to move up. The company is run like a high school full of drama and a complete lack of professionalism from the management team. Managers should actually show some respect to their employees and learn to run a business professionally. Company lacks leaders that are qualified for their positions,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The production workers need to become UNIONIZED. For better employee retention, treat your employees with respect rather than second class citizens. Upper management; please quit screwing people over for your own advancement, (what comes around goes around) Ineffective upper manager and HR staff are kept around far too long.

I have been working at Phonak full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Top of industry products and innovation. Excellent customer service. Senior management gives sales team the opportunity to think outside the box for solutions. The current culture of the company is making a drastic change for the better. If it continues on this path I only see good things to come. Total income is fantastic when you are at or above goal.

    Cons

Most (if not all) of the regional sales management team lack initiative and emotional/creative intelligence. Compensation plan and territories change yearly. They have a tendency to promote from outside the company rather than within and unfortunately I have not seen any changes to that motto in the recent years. Salaries are low. Travel and Expense budget is pathetic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training for the immediate management team. Also there may need to be some changes. I strongly feel that some of the managers are in the best position for their skill set.

I have been working at Phonak part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

My experience at Phonak has been extremely satisfying. The managers are caring, attentive, and respectful. The facility is beautiful and open-concept, eliminating a barrier between departments. Everyone is very friendly. Upper management places a huge amount of importance on employee recognition, and it shows. Phonak is forward thinking in its values and culture and is growing rapidly, and the qualiy of the product and the attitude of the employees allow it to do so.

    Cons

Because Phonak is in the process of opening their Aurora office, chaos is sure to arise. That being said, all affected employees and managers are handling it quite well.

Management listens sincerely to the needs of the staff and strive to promote a spirit of cooperation.
