    Good atmosphere

    Editor (Former Employee)

ProsGood management. Friendly co-workers. Low stress environment.

ConsModerately low pay. Last in, First out hiring mentality.

Advice to Senior ManagementThis mentality of scaling back employees when there aren't enough shows is fine, but the cuts should come from those who contribute less, not just those unlucky enough to have been hired most recently. This builds an aura of complacency for the senior employees and doesn't give motivated newbies a chance.

Great place to work but low rates and not much advancement.

    Show Producer (Current Employee)
    North Hollywood, CA

ProsGreat people, high morale, positive environment. Good EP's on the show I worked on. Benefits package is good. Offer 401k but they don't match. Overall, it's a good place to work if you want to maintain a personal life and enjoy your work environment.

ConsLimited upward potential, rates are on the lower side and I worked there over 2 years without a raise. Many producers feel that the only way to move up is to move out.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo more to promote talented people and not just rely on the same favorite producers to do everything.

Not much room to grow. Low morale.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    North Hollywood, CA

Pros- 9-6 workday for in-office employees
    - comp days for field employees who work on weekends and over holidays
    - health/dental/401k after 6 months to a year employment (unusual in this industry)
    - vacation days, sick days, holiday (also unusual in this industry)
    - opportunities for employees to pitch new series ideas are available

Cons- lower pay rates compared with competitor employers in same field
    - raises that reward productivity or episode pick-ups are given infrequently
    - little verbal feedback or encouragement is given for productivity and excellence
    - communication between post department and production is very limited, if not completely cut off
    - contradicting directives for creative work are often given, no accountability is taken for these directives by upper management
    - little career advancement is available to a qualified and motivated staff

Advice to Senior Management- Boost morale by small yet meaningful gestures; food and compliments are always well received.
    - Ask for input from lower management staff on organizational and creative matters, you'd be surprised what ideas they have based on being in the trenches of production and being creative people in general.
    - Provide periodic employee reviews to boost individual performance.

Life is fun at the Pie!

    Show Producer (Current Employee)
    North Hollywood, CA

ProsThe hours are great & the staff is fun and friendly. Everyone seems to understand that we're not curing cancer, we're just making television.

ConsThe pay and the disconnection between the different departments. One day, this is how we are told to do things and then a month later, it's a whole different story. There is no team between production and post production. There's a lot of the blame game that goes back and forth unfortunately.

Advice to Senior ManagementStand up for your employees. When you know they're out in the field with the least amount of control over the elements, don't hang them up to dry when the post department needs to take a little more time with something that you had no control over in the field.

Pay is Very Low And Real Lack Of Professionalism From Upper Management

    (Current Employee)

ProsGood experience. Nice co-workers. Enjoy working in cutting edge reality television.

ConsUpper management doesn't understand why people leave their company - it's because they pay next to nothing. The pay is way below the industry average. The benefits don't quite cut it either. The endless politics that the big three create leaves morale at an all time low. I would definitely not recommend working here.

Advice to Senior ManagementVery few people will tell you all this because they're afraid of the backlash. Man up and pay people what they're worth and treat people with dignity and you may avoid having people quit and talk behind your backs.
