    Pros

    Great people from all over.

    Cons

They will work you to the ground as a new guy. Don't expect much help with anything. If the foreman doesn't like how hard you work, you won't be worth the company long.

    Advice to Management

Be patient, not everyone will work as hard as you did when you were younger. Let the crews be safe with the work.

  3. Very educational and great for new lineman starting careers.

    Pros

Benefits were decent. Allowed to roll over 1 week yearly of vacation time. There are good people that work at Pike, people that try to do the right thing and treat their crew with respect. If you have a family, know that you are on call 24/7/365, you will miss important events like Chrismas, your kids first steps etc.

    Cons

Pike is known for screwing their employess at any given chance. Don't waste your time showing dedication to them, becuase at the end of the day, they do not care about anyone. For all you Pike guys still working that may see this, when you decide to quit, make sure you cash your vacation time out ahead of time. Normally when you put in a notice, they tell you to go ahead and go home they don't need you which screws you out of your vacation time because you were fired. Meanwhile they are running many crews with only 3 men but they say "We will have a full crew next week". LIES LIES LIES! Management care only about the $$$. Storm work overtime does not begin until you have worked your regular 40, while other companies start overtime when you roll out. Trucks break down constantly! Not much opportunity to advance.

    Advice to Management

I realize that you are running a company to make money. When you have dedicated employees you should take a look at the big picture. Just remember, what comes around goes around Eric.

    Pros

Even though Pike is a public corporation, it has the feel of a much smaller company. Senior management is accessible. Employees are regarded as individuals rather than faceless employees. There is a sincere effort to provide a safe workplace.

    Cons

Work-life balance is not always healthy. Large promotions are uncommon. You will understand your hours and opportunities for promotion when hired.

    Pros

The benefits offered are great and affordable.

    Cons

No one ever seems to get a raise and the vacation time sucks. Management is really out of touch with what goes on in the company. People seem to be a commodity and are frequently treated as such.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what is going on in your comapny and simply make better decisions.

    Pros

You can work at your own pace because management is oblivious to what is going on. The pay is pretty good. Work-life balance is pretty light, easy to do other things

    Cons

Management is awful. Projects are always behind schedule and over budget. Hiring is extremely sporadic. Needs are not filled, but managers fudge projected work to justify hiring random positions.

    Pros

Only pros are if you get to move up the pay is good, and travelling on storm is good money.

    Cons

Employees haven't had a cost of living in 7 years, while they give every excuse wh. Oh y. Need to improve our safety, meet our goals. We met the safety goals and still no pay raise, meanwhile they are buying companies left and right and lining thier own pockets. As far as management goes, its who you know, or who your buddies with, not the best qualified. That goes on the lower levels as well. They have gone from giving bonuses for safety to firing if your not. Most employees are there because they can't find anything else. There is alot of tell you what you want to hear, and do something else. Its not about the employees anymore. Oh yeah, if they read this they would fire or write me up for this instead of improving anything if they found out who i was.

    Advice to Management

Get your priorities straight, without good employees you are nothing.
