I have been working at Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc.

    Pros

Training is good but if you have no construction or Xactimate experience, you're going to have a rough couple of deployments (If your trainer is a guy named Able, listen to everything he says. He sounds like a 'know-it-all' because he does know it all). Pay rate is good but it sounds like they're changing some of the pay rates.

    Cons

No health insurance, very inconsistent work schedule (have been with them since June/2014 and still no deployment. I live in the MN area so this may be the reason because their headquarters are in Alabama and Taxes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They have gotten better at communicating to non-deployed adjusters with their recent blog and monthly newsletter but it would be nice to hear more communication to the adjusters that are not on a deployment. Also, give more advice on how new adjusters can receive more deployments.

I have been working at Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc. as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pilot is a well respected leader in the catastrophe insurance claims industry. As a CAT adjuster they will keep you busy working each year (as long as mother nature permits) and as long as you continue to do your job well. They offer excellent training opportunities and they are never late with the paychecks.

    Cons

No health insurance options for outside field adjusters

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

exploring the possibility of establishing a health insurance 'co-op' for adjusters and other similar positions within the company to participate in

I worked at Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc.

    Pros

Great pay and there is a lot you can learn.

    Cons

No consistent work. Also, they call every adjuster they can so you may show up and not have work and get turned away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If someone is traveling from farther distances, a minimum guaranty of days or work. Or some kind of compensation if you travel from so far. It is frustrating to travel from other states just to get turned away because you call in too many adjusters.

I worked at Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc.

    Pros

You can get a lot of experience if you are starting out in this business and Pilot provides Field Support and Tech Support, not all companies provide these. There is money to be made, good money, but please don't complain that owners make to much when you agree to work for your ridiculously high pay that requires no degree. It's business, if you want to make the most, open a company yourself...

    Cons

You will have to know enough about XM8 or be a fast learner. Your first storm is generally a big one and you are thrown into it very quickly and it cant stop moving while you are learning! If you have a family and end up a good adjuster, you will be home maybe 30 days a year. It is all or nothing, you don't pick when you work, they do, again, it's business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

New adjusters should be able to shadow experienced adjusters while making a small amount so they can be better equipped on their first large storm. Rated, so to speak before they are called out.
