    Pros

Work-life is up to you. You work when you work and you live the rest of the time. Company values employees that value the customer and doing the job right. Low pressure, but you need to work hard and learn to be efficient.

    Cons

Hours are tough for an extended period of time, but that is the business.

I have work claims for Pilot exclusively for 16 years and have almost always been very busy

I have been working at Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc.

    Pros

Those who can adapt to this type of work can be as busy as the want to be with Pilot, as long as there's bad weather. Company folks are nice and mostly knowledgeable.

    Cons

The weather isn't always bad. In my case, I'm not offered jobs with other carriers because I work almost exclusively for one client and they like me. So I will sometimes have to wait for that carrier to have something before I can go work - while others might be out working already in the spring. Can be frustrating, but not necessarily a problem particular to Pilot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everybody can see that you're a family-run business, but that family isn't always the best choice for leadership positions.

I worked at Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc. as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The pay was very good and there were a lot of good people there. Management was supportive even with my disability.

    Cons

It was very stressful discussing existing conditions with clients in a disaster situation. Training needs to be increased a little.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow your people to hone their skills for a particular area before asking them to change to another task. Being able to do this will help you retain better and find the cream of the crop.

I worked at Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Every day can be different, depending upon Mother Nature. Family run; they treat their employees very well. Work with different insurance companies, can be challenging keeping up with the various rules and regulations of each company.

    Cons

Just because you have a vacation scheduled, or plans for a holiday -- if Mother Nature reeks havoc, your plans will change from vacation to work. Since it is "family run", office politics play a heavy role.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Careful of the favoritism.

I have been working at Pilot Catastrophe Services, Inc. full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The office we work in is nice. The client company is a great company and many people have been able to get permanent positions with them.

    Cons

I have been working at the same deployment for over 2 years and have been with the company over 5. I haven't had an increase since 2011. All lead positions are give to African Americans even on their first day on the job. No white woman has ever been offered a lead position. Only one white male was at one time. No benefits. No paid time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give everyone a chance to be a lead. Stop making employees that have been working full time for years attend training meetings with the temps. its insulting. Those of us that work full time should be treated and compensated as salaried employees.
