    Pros

It is near Clearwater Beach, good views. you get the State pension

    Cons

Very subject to layoffs. People making a lot less than me were kept. Layoffs were based on who they liked and knew, so if you are blonde and good looking you will stay. Or is you salary is low.

    Advice to Management

Well thay kept a man over 65 and laid me off , so what can I say? How really ridiculous can that be?

    Pros

The benefits are great and there are opportunities to move to different departments within the organization.

    Cons

Although there are opportunities to move within the organization, certain positions require such specific knowledge that your skills are only good for that position.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

    FRS retirement system
Paid time off and paid holidays were better than corporate
    Limited opportunities for training
    regular work schedule

    Cons

Gave management 15% raises to "become in line with industry" yet no raises to employees
Upper level management spent a large amount of time and tax payer money to "reorganize" and "reorganize" and "reorganize" and move offices, I moved my office 6 times in as many years, and re title all employees, some employees were shifted to "salaried" and forced to work more for essentially less pay.
Lay-offs were brutal, some instances families where both parents worked at the county both were laid off.
Used yearly evaluations to belittle and lay off good employees.
Supposed open door policy only applied if you said what they wanted to hear.
GOOD OL' BOY SYSTEM STILL IN PLACE.

    Advice to Management

YOUR INCOMPETENCE IS COMPLETE AND FULLY INEFFECTUAL, TREATING PEOPLE LIKE PEOPLE GOES A LONG WAY.

    Pros

It is a part of the Florida State Pension fund and they contribute for you. Organizational charts are clear and you know who reports to who. Requires 3 performance evaluations per year. Most long time employees have covered parking. Personnel offers many additional training classes that you can attend for free. There is an employee appreciation week. You get 3 floating holidays in addition to the 11 holidays granted already. They appreciate older employees who hold a lot of working knowledge. Randomly throughout the year all employees will get offers to the local venues, hotels, sports teams, etc at a discount rate.

    Cons

Salaries are low compared to businesses of the same size. They have no cost of living increase. Merit bonuses have been kept to 3% and only 5% of the workers qualify for the full 3%. The different departments such as, Clerk, Supervisor of Elections, Courts, Property Appraiser, Sheriff, Parks, etc. don't necessarily work together well and their individual agendas get in teh way of consolidation and savings. The government budget is dropping each year and the chance of layoffs is big this year and next year. The physical facilities are not new and nice like most public and private companies.

    Advice to Management

    Work together.
