I have been working at Pinkerton Government Services full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    good start for the industry

    okay pay

    fellow guards are good people

    Cons

    expect high workload

not a job for students, my position will not allow studying during breaks

management only seems to care about the client and not you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure your account managers know what they are doing, my account manager is poor at planning and scheduling(loses paperwork as well claiming to have "forgotten it") and is essentially a "yes man" for the client, he does not seem to care or know about the guards he works with, many guards actually left the company due to his poor management skills leaving us understaffed

    Pros

Better pay than most. They do provide nice uniforms.

    Cons

Very little contact with management, hard to get in contact with mgt. As with most, you are working at THEIR will and may be terminated without reason or any reason given.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow up on training, keep in touch with your people.

I worked at Pinkerton Government Services full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay was okay working at Boeing Long Beach C-17 program. $17.23/hour (armed)

    Cons

Unbelievable policies! No round allowed in the chamber while working (they called it carrying warm; more like carry dead cold). The company didn't encourage actual security work, they mandated around 100 detex hits while on patrol!

No lunches! just two 10 minute breaks (They were sued and to ditch the suit they re-organized under different name/ corporate structure)

Management was all one race, and they catered directly to their "click."

Overboard with rules and regulations. If you were part of the "click" then you didn't have to obey the rules, if you were not part of the "click" you were held accountable for every little thing.

For the record I was never written up, but saw a lot of good people slandered and fired!

    Worst employer ever!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I know that Pinkerton has huge portfolio of accounts and has a tough job on its hands. I don't know where to begin, but don't allow only one race of people to promote to middle management. Loose most of your legal mumbo jumbo policies and create clear policies that all can understand.
