    Pros

Centrally located. Good communication with HR. Fast at providing information.

    Cons

Contracting experience. Poor benefit package (expect at least -300 or -600 if you want better insurance). Poor to zero representation in front of client (you are a contractor thus without representation - expect to be treated like trash). The client in Houston is a Fortune 500. You will not do ALL SOURCE...basically, all you do is report the news. There is POOR COMMUNICATION/POOR TRAINING and expect a VERY VERY VERY BAD ENVIRONMENT! Little work, little pay. Similar jobs start at 65k in Houston.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring people from outside Houston (I imagine it is so they cannot runaway from that fortune 500 insurance company) and helping the insurance company sell something they cannot deliver. There will not be any training, the environment is poor/aggressive and morale at below 50 degrees.

    Pros

Pinkerton is a company with strong brand and history. It drives the organization to be prideful and that shows in its way of doing business. The company is loyal to it's employees and to it's clients as much as any for profit company can be. It is a strong family.

    Cons

The HR process for recruiting and new hires is a bit dated. Look past this and seek out conversations with other Pinkertons to get real impressions of the company.

    Advice to Management

Freshen up the talent acquisition. Support employees with tools for success. Value the partnership.

    Pros

Pinkerton is a great company to be part of. It has such a great tradition and culture. Being a Pinkerton is an honor and very challenging. Never the same day twice. Learn something new all the time. The expertise of my fellow Pinkertons is impressive and humbling.

    Cons

Very demanding. easy to get unbalanced. Its not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Additional training opportunities such as International assignment to help operating units to better understand global differences in practice and local culture. Overall great direction and applaud the performance of the executive team.

    Pros

The greatest thing, for me, about being a Pinkerton is you have the autonomy to make decisions. I am always learning and helping others to learn. While this is a "bad news business" (no one calls you when life is good), its great to show up someplace and see the look of relief on their face. Everyday brings a new challenge and it is up to you to find the right solution. The industry is always changing and so are we!

    Cons

Some may find it difficult to work as a Pinkerton, as you are expected to be self sustained and self driven. I find so often many people are more comfortable, when the decisions which have to be made on a daily bases as a Director, are made by someone else.

    Advice to Management

Continue to provide a vision, communicate it clearly and provide the proper tools, then step aside and let your employees make it happen!

    Pros

If you work hard, you are rewarded. It is a very fair place to work, without the usual amount of bureaucracy. Very good corporate reputation. Employees are encouraged to grow.

    Cons

You are expected to work hard, which would be a con for some.

    Advice to Management

Contnue to encourage your employees by rewarding hard work.
