Pros
Excellent place to begin a career in travel and to gain on-the-job experience. Two-month paid training. Health benefits are pretty good and matching 401(k) is available. Time off is granted freely if operational needs permit, although this is without pay.
Cons
Communication is often lacking between management and employees as employees sometimes find information only by talking with co-workers. Opportunities exist for advancement, but this is often dependent on numerous factors including who a person knows. Call center environment can be very stressful and some in management are less than respectful to employees. Rate of pay is on the low side for the travel industry. Repetition of job requirements and unsupportive management has lead to low morale among many employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should be more willing to reward and compensate employees for a job well done. This would go a long way towards improving employee morale and retention of good employees.
Pros
Pinnacle Travel Services provides a paycheck to those with minimal education or experience. The health benefits are really the only reason to work here.
Cons
Management only feigns enough respect for their employees to show up and take another call. Morale is low. Some new hires receive higher pay than those with experience. Previously approved time off for personal reasons is sometimes revoked at the last minute. Sick time and vacation time is combined so there is really no sick time. American Express dictates all operating procedures and most of the arbitrary rules result in clients being treated in an insincere manner.
Advice to Senior Management
American Express should be ashamed to contract with a company which is so unfair to its employees. American Express wanted cheap labor and Pinnacle Travel Services is what they've got. I would recommend American Express not partner with Pinnacle if they wish their customers to be happy and well-served.
