Pros
Work life balance is great, benefits are above average
Cons
Large company trying to reinvent itself during a very tough environment. Not many real plans for developing talent internally. Still quite siloed in structure.
Advice to Senior Management
Pitney bowes should be focused on innovations, that's where the roots of the company are, innovation
Pros
Opportunities to learn about business
Some good colleagues, professional people who take jobs seriously
working with variety of product lines and businesses
Marketing work is interesting
Cons
Poor compensation, not competitive in many ways
Promotions sometimes go to people with longevity instead of merit
Business with USPS slowing
Advice to Senior Management
Take a harder line with people not cooperating with transformation
Get company cooperating globally
Stop outsourcing & off shoring....bigger companies are ahead of you realizing that the US has outsourced too much
Pros
Great training opportunity
Solid skills and training for new recruits
Management involved in setting up appointments for potential clients/cold calls
Cons
Known for postage machines not copiers
Not a leader in industry in all products which they sell
Pitney Bowes is technologically challenged
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to update technology support
Not current with sales opportunities
Completely unaware the men golfed every day instead of sales calls
Pros
Good work-life balance, make your own schedule
Cons
Management comes out of a cracker jacks box. No clue how to run a company. No support or proper recognition. No products to sell in this economy. No one needs a mailing machine these days.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire the right people for the job.
Pros
family oriented environment, potlucks, rewards ok, and drama free.
Cons
not so good pay increases...could be better
Advice to Senior Management
increase incentives and pay for employees
Pros
office location close to home
Cons
sales representative positions are low paid
Advice to Senior Management
increase commission
Pros
Good benefits - health, paid vacation, profit sharing, potential for yearly department bonuses, etc. Some departments have opportunities for commissions. Most of the people you work with (not necessarily for) are good people and willing to share their expertise.
Cons
It is a call-center environment and sometimes can be very impersonal. A number of supervisors with years of experience and expertise with PB have recently been "laid off" or accepted early retirement incentives, and combining workloads for those remaining. That obviously affects how supervisors can relate to their subordinates. Beginning wages are not enough to support a family. Training for additional job responsibilities or a change of departments is sadly lacking the details needed to perform the tasks.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to attract responsible employees who will be loyal to the company, you need to offer better beginning salaries and better initial training and follow-up training for the positions.
Pros
Experience, customers, support, benefits, some good people
Cons
Dying Market, Micromanagement, Lack of technical support, all customers are unhappy
Advice to Senior Management
Management folks are sellouts.
Pros
Job, income (poor pay though)
Cons
See Headline, nothing else to say
Advice to Senior Management
Work to correct things listed in Headline
Pros
One of the best sales training programs within the industry. Very knowlegable senior technical team. Diverse b2b product/solutions line. Good organizational tools and infastructure.
Cons
Main line of business in mailing machine equipment; meters, folders, inserters is in a rapidly steady decline. Company is having identity issues in the new emerging economy. A track record has not been established with new produclt lines like; imaging and workflow (document management) etc. Business owners are finding it hard to put their faith in a mailing company for more advanced turnkey solutions in regard to sophisticated software integration and technology.
