Pros
Leading edge technology.
Company still leads projector market.
Helping see new products in production you helped with.
Great people to work with.
Cons
Chips in the field became commodity and became hard to compete.
Management team decided to offshore most of the work in mid to late 2000's which broke the company.
By the time a course correction was made it was too late to save the core of the company and engineers who began everything.
Advice to Senior Management
Stick to core competencies of projector/scaling chips. Offer limited options for the TV and monitor market and beef up support to help most important customers. Rebuild the design team in the US and allow the Asian teams to develop chips to meet needs of their market.
Pros
Very smart and talented young generation of engineers. Most all development is here is Shanghai.
Cons
Inexperienced engineers are promoted very quickly. Talent circulation in and out of the company is too quick in Shanghai. Engineers who do not perform and/or who are not interested float around the company.
Advice to Senior Management
There is lot of potential for the company in the 3D tv market. Need to promote experienced and motivated individuals to managers and replace low performing candidates.
