Solo fast paced work.

Delivery Driver (Former Employee)
DFW, TX

I worked at Pizza Hut part-time for more than a year

ProsWork solo
Listen to music most of your shift
Drive around and explore a little
Easy
Tips usually pretty good
Easy schedule to fit around life, though not a lot of hours.

ConsBoring and mind numbing at times
Speed of delivery is more important than safety or traffic laws
Low base pay
Rude and ignorant customers
Not a lot of hours, but easy to fit job around life
Dangerous - driving safety not encouraged, taking orders in neighborhoods that have been problematic in the past.
Gas and car repair eats away at any money you make.
They milk the customer with delivery charges, at the expense of your tips.

Advice to Senior ManagementEncourage obeying traffic laws and driving safely
Don't make the customers promises you can't keep, we take the crap for it.
Make it common knowledge that there is no "30 minutes, or it's free" policy."
Train drivers better, especially on how to identify unsafe situations and how to deal with them.
Don't raise the delivery charge without raising the drivers compensation, some customers believe that money goes to the driver so they tip less or not at all.

Order Taker and Cashier

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
Addison, TX

I have been working at Pizza Hut part-time for less than a year

Pros- Great work environment
- Real "team" feeling
- Easy job
- Great discount on food

Cons- Low pay for the amount of work you actually do
- Have to stay late / come in early constantly
- Lazy employees (most of the drivers are 'slackers')
- Management sits at desk for most of the day and doesn't help when it's busy
- Little chance for promotion

Advice to Senior Management- Help out when people are calling you to come to the front
- Maintain a positive attitude (negativity trickles down to the rest of your employees)
- Know how to deal with difficult customers
- The customer is always right, don't tell them they can't have another pizza made if their first one is made incorrectly

Good part-time work for a student

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
Denton, TX

I worked at Pizza Hut part-time for more than a year

ProsGenerally flexible hours, which is good for students, though the flexibility is at the discretion of the General Manager. Solid feeling of teamwork amongst the employees.

ConsExtremely high turnover with little hope for promotion. The job is not a pleasant one, as you mostly deal with taking orders and customer complaints. You are held accountable for customer reviews, but only in the negative, so good work is never rewarded. Even the management seemed to hate their jobs. Huge emphasis on company culture that just comes across as contrived and demeaning, rather than helpful or empowering. Never heard a thing about the possibility of benefits in my time working there.

Advice to Senior ManagementCare more about your employees, rather than viewing them as an easily replaceable commodity.
