I have been working at PizzaExpress

    Pros

Tasty food and drinks. Very good staff discount from today. Easy to move around places for living, to be transfered to other branch and keep a job anywhere.
    Regular customers makes your day

    Cons

Is a lot to be expected from waiter. Far to much. In some branches you have to do cleaners job too. Like this manager saves his limited money. Customers is not realising how hard waiters work on busy shift. Bad points is that waiters have to make a drinks, no bar person for doint it. Waiters have to make hot drinks. Waiters have to do deserts and sometimes all together for a parties. Team work is not existing normally in Pizza Express.
On top of that worst thing is asking of feedbacks! It feels wrong. Becouse people dont normally leaves it no metter how servise was great. So we are asked to do it for us self!
Company says, you have no 100% feedback one per week or so, you dont do your job well.
    Rubbish.
And hardly you get brake on your shift. Sometimes working 7 hours without sitting down makes my legs sore like hell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everage spent per head is wrong figure to look at waiters abilities.
Standarts to high for the money wages is paid.
Employ for staff, stop saving money in your pockets.
Make competitions realistic for everyone, less unfriendly politics.
Pay for superwaisers what they belong or dont ask them do your job.
    Focus on staff and customers.
Stop vouchers and all this promotions and your everage spent per head will increase.
Stop bringing wrong As. Managers to the restaurant from outside and give oputunity to experienced staff to do it in right time!
Christmas hampers is so small today as you can cry to compere with years ago...

I worked at PizzaExpress part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Busy, you can hardly get bored, you will learn how to work as a waiter/waitress; flexible in terms of hours and locations; tips

    Cons

Ridiculous rates of pay, after 3 years you will still get £ 6,50 p/h; managers tend to "forget" to pay you all the hours worked to save money
Their only aim is customer satisfaction and profit, the happiness of employees is simply disregarded. In fact, if their employees are happy, they would work much better and less upset. There were days were every waiters complained out of anything, such a sad place of work, where you are squeezed and you have to compete with your colleague to have the best section of the restaurant. And watch you back if your colleagues are a pool of xxxx: your tips are likely to disappear!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more honest and accurate with your employees, pay them more on Xmas, New Year's Eve ... give them a Xmas present (at Ikea they received a Kindle this year, for instance) instead of a (limited, very limited) voucher to dine in a restaurant...

I have been working at PizzaExpress part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The only real pros I can think of is the fact as a waitress I am able to keep my own tips which is a great way of making extra money.

    Cons

No set shifts, shifts change every week so I never know when I'm working and can never plan in advance
Welfare of staff is no concern to manager, I have never had a break whilst working there
I am still in full time education yet my manager repeatedly puts me on closing shifts meaning I am working until 11 pm and waking up again at 5.45 am to go to college, my manager doesn't seem to take this into account despite me telling her many times
I get told off for other people's mistakes which is barbaric
Not treated with any respect from manager or customers, they seem to think just because I am a waitress I am the lowest
    Expectations are too high
I never received any training, I was simply thrown in at the deep end with very little waitressing experience and was told off for asking questions on what to do
We have to use our own money to give customers change which seems wrong, surely the company should provide us with a float or we should have a till
Communication between kitchen and bar is poor, a lot of misunderstandings are made

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sort it out. Treat your staff with respect. Don't expect such ridiculous things

    Pros

some great work colleagues. Every pizzaexpress branch is different

    Cons

disrespectful general manager, work overload. Being 7 mths pregnant I would be expected to run like crazy for 8 hours with no lunch break! pepople would cry out of tiredness and stress! Honestly I dont know why some of lovely waiters are still there! I am not-and that is the best part of it!

    Cons

I was informing on your ability to work, to welcome and satisfy the customer and very good, no complaints

I have been working at PizzaExpress full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good salary, good benefits and excellent people to work with

    Cons

A lot of managers lacking ability and tend to group into cliches which can be difficult when your restaurant needs help. There is a lot of paperwork and the requests by senior management tend to contradict each other which can make running your restaurant difficult

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose a vision and follow it. Make management customer or paperwork orientated, we can't be expected to be on the floor all the time and do paperwork in our own time it doesnt work

    Cons

    -no breaks allowed
    -no benefits
    -no company sick pay
-no cpmpassionate leave or any special leave
    -the company is a Bully
    -no career progretion
-lower your self esteam and motivations
-very long hours up to 65 a week so you end up working less them minimum wage
    -no traning or revue
    and so on ....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop thinking just about your bonus and think about the people that they are actualy doing all the hard work from waiters to chefs because at the end of the day with out waters and chefs it will be no PizzaExpress.

I have been working at PizzaExpress

    Pros

    - well established company
    - potential to progress
    - good as an additional job
    - as for supervisor or assistant manager - money okay
    - company is growing and developing itself too
    - friendly atmosphere - it depends on people you work with though
    - staff discount card and benefits more to come - as there is going to be more discounts to use in some of the high street main retailers
    - there is few really good managers with good leaderships skills

    Cons

    - too much politics
    - lack of decent organised benefits as pension scheme and health care - there is something but really no good value - mainly you have to pay for it
    - not as much good managers who could encourage staff to develop, recognise a good work and reward their staff
    - managers want the biggest profit as possible with spending as little as possible - to just pocket their additional bonus money, with no keeping in their mind it is possible only thanks to their hardworking staff
    - all over vouchers - customers used to come to our restaurants for the brand not only because they have voucher to redeem
    - as for supervisor or assistant manager - money okay but not exceptional (considering the amount of responsibilities)
    - very unsociable working hours
