    I worked at PlainsCapital full-time

    Pros

The foundation of this company is solid. Most executives have been with the company for 10 years plus. Work/life balance is good. Customer seem to love the company.

    Cons

Your experience will differ greatly based on location and manager. Some long-tenured execs should retire but won't. The company has grown quickly and maybe outpaced its talent pool. Money is tight in some areas but wasted in others.

    Pros

Pay, benefits, active in the community

    Cons

    Ineffective management
    No upward mobility
    Inability to react to change

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to listen to your employees. Senior Management is not doing an effective job of managing their leaders. Just an overall lackadaisical feel coming from them.

I have been working at PlainsCapital part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The work environment is awesome. Everyone seems laid-back but still professional. It's a nice balance. For a part time job I couldn't ask for better pay. The management seems competent and respectable. My favorite part is the extensive training. I'm just a part-time teller and I feel like they've already invested a lot in me.

    Cons

We'll have to wait and see.

    I worked at PlainsCapital full-time

    Pros

Great opportunity. Good working relationships with co-workers. Staff was very helpful. There was potential for growth and learning the investment banking business.

    Cons

Unusual employee termination practices. Terminated abruptly without specific reasons. Reason given gave the impression that unethical practices are happening within the company where I was positioned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow the guidelines specified in the employment handbook.

    Pros

Good work experience for 1st job. Learned a lot as an analyst for all industries and business analysis

    Cons

Low salary, no improvement opportunities and management favored individuals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not favor individuals and give everybody a chance to succeed. Offer larger salary increases.

I have been working at PlainsCapital full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

One branch is open 7 days a week.

    Cons

Doesn't work with schedules, no room for promotions, pay is below other banks, little recognition

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a new CEO who doesn't look like he is about to have a heart attack. Notice the employees who work hard. Show more appreciation

I worked at PlainsCapital part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I worked in the Bee Caves branch. The people here are awesome. My manager was incredible and really cared about the staff. It was laid back, but professional. The training is great.

    Cons

Some of the customers are not friendly, but that is always the case with bank tellers. Goes with the job. Management at the bank always backs you up, unless you mess up big time. Follow procedure and do not make big mistakes and you will be fine.

    I worked at PlainsCapital

    Pros

Friendly environment, volunteer opportunities within the community, interaction with upper management

    Cons

Human resources seems to drag with promotional opportunities. Internal applications are not given enough credit. I worked at PlainsCapital as a Teller while going to school--when I received my degree I applied for multiple positions, however, I was only contacted once I put in my notice to leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for the potential within your current employees.
