I worked at PlainsCapital (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed my coworkers a lot. Fun bank to work for.

    Cons

There are a few, but nothing to notable in my experience.

    Advice to Management

With a growing company organization is key, I feel like PCB is lacking here.

    I worked at PlainsCapital part-time

    Pros

PlainsCapital has a strong community in every market. The managers do tend to care about the employees. There are several markets with tons of branches and offices. So there is definitely room to grow within the company.

    Cons

Upper management seems too distant from frontline workers. Without steep promotions the compensation can be very limited. Certain Upper Upper management needs their email privelages taken away. The company wide emails received are extremely unprofessional and demoralizing to frontline employees at times.

    Advice to Management

Take away you know who's email privelages. Maybe invest more into the development of your student employees.

I have been working at PlainsCapital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing company to work for. Great time off and relaxed work environment that make for a happy employee who is willing to work harder.

    Cons

As with all "bank" jobs pay is not as much as I would like, but when you weight your work life vs your personal life it was a no brainer to me.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing a great job!

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to be involved as far as volunteering and such. Room for growth and vertical as well as horizontal movement. Fun atmosphere for the most part.

    Cons

Somewhat misguided leadership at the very top levels. Relatively poor pay compared to other local positions, but nothing that requires food stamps or the like.

    Pros

Generally, friendly and enjoyable coworkers. Excellent company culture. Greatly involved in the community.

Appalling upward mobility. Anemic benefits at best. Low compensation for the industry.

    Advice to Management

Improve employee retention and happiness by bringing wages/benefits up to local industry averages.

    Pros

Very fortunate to have a great boss and easy going coworkers. Really like the culture and the fact there is a mascot. Also there is room to grow within the company.

    Cons

    Workload needs to slow down.

    Advice to Management

Workload needs to slow down a little, I think employees are feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the acquisition taking place.

    Pros

Culture Co-Workers Knowledgable staff Strong foundation Customers

    Cons

Upper management is not held accountable Salary Does not promote from within budgets are lacking in some areas and wasted in others Dress code

    Advice to Management

The company needs to review the executive management in departments that have high turn over. Exit interviews are being overlooked and disregarded. The HR department does not follow through on complaints regarding management. There is no open door policy. Once a complaint is made, instead of investigating, HR alerts the manager which employee is complaining and that manager pushes them to quit. Several departments within PlainsCapital do not provide employees incentive to stay. They would rather hire from outside of the company at a high salary than to hire from within and give that person an opportunity for advancement and pay increase. They also require employees to take on additional responsibilities without an increase in compensation. As a whole, this company needs to look at their upper management and examine what is best for the company moving forward. it would also be beneficial to encourage hard working employees to stay with the company by providing fair compensation and promote from within rather than hire someone outside the company.
