Very Unproductive Atmosphere with No Leadership

Financial Analyst (Current Employee)
Orlando, FL

I have been working at Planet Hollywood full-time for less than a year

ProsDecent Pay
Other employees are great to work with
Great Office location near a mall and lots of restaurants
Discounts at some locations

ConsNo leadership or organization
Team went from 7 down to 2 people in less than 2 months due to the terrible leadership in the Finance Department
Open positons are not back filled
Paychecks sometimes come 1-2 days late
Executives disagree and argue in front of employees
There is a general sense of unhappiness in the work environment due to the unnecessary stress placed on employees

Advice to Senior ManagementLeadership is a necessary skill to run a successful business. There are a lot of great resources to develop leadership skills. Please take advantage of them.

Not the best job I've ever had, but great money!

Bartender/Server/Trainer (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Planet Hollywood full-time for more than a year

ProsYou restaurant gets people in the doors just because its a Planet Hollywood! They are also always in tourist areas, so the ticket prices will always be more that other, non-chain, restaurants. I really liked the management staff that I worked for in NY TIme Square as well. The people were great and I always had a great time.

ConsI hate the stupid ties! Other than that, I can't complain. The only other down side is that if it is not tourist season, the place is DEAD! Work a lot and save up during the busy times when you are pulling in a lot of money and then just go on a vacation or something.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Orlando, FL

I worked at Planet Hollywood full-time

ProsA job that pays a wage. Good insurance benefits that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Consdisorganized in the extreme, Poor leadership, poor training, boasts the fact that they are a private company only because there is no way they could ever be publicly traded, poor SOP's.

Advice to Senior Managementtake a hard look at the people who are in management positions and truly ask yourself if they are suited for that position, and why they are in that position to begin with

Great money, but tourist trap!

Server (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Planet Hollywood full-time for more than a year

ProsYou can make great money once you get used to the flow of the restaurant and how to determine which tourist will tip and what not so you can upsell or not. You have to work extremely hard and bus and run food to most of your tables. Be able to handle being sat 4 tables at a time or more during rush!

ConsTourist trap, bad management, old micros system pos. Long hours!

Great fun atmosphere

Server (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Planet Hollywood

ProsEveryone is supper friendly and they push you to learn and become better. The push you to be really amazing in a week. And after training you won't need help anymore.

ConsThe cons are that you have to learn the menu. They make you take 5 tests. and if you fail you will lose the job.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe management is great as long as you are great to them. They will undestand what you are going through.
