I worked at Planit Advertising full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You may get to work on some big clients. You will definitely get to work on bland clients. The culture makes Planit, and it's one of the best workplaces in Baltimore in terms of talent and clients. You can thrive doing good work, but don't expect upward growth. Expect to gain great experience working with a very talented print, design, and account management team. What you do with that experience is up to you.

    Cons

If you're susceptible to burnout* you will have problems here. Don't believe me? If you interview there, stop by the kitchen and look at the Halloween posters. You will start to notice the massive fluctuation in personal when you compare them to the online bios. By my last count, around a third of the employees who started 2013 with Planit finished the year with another company.

There's an ongoing evolution in the process and structure of the organization, and it takes a toll on those who have spent time trying to adapt to shifting responsibilities and goals. With the constant revolving door of employees, this trend unfortunately isn't stopping any time soon.

*If you aren't susceptible to burnout, go start your own company and make significantly more money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Planit's aspirations are great, but the lack of "putting your money where your mouth is" wears people down. Poor choices in middle management also contradicts the culture of working smart and having a good time. There's a growing rift between the lofty mantra of upper management and the daily lives of the employees, but that's every rapidly expanding business I suppose.

Act slim, agile, and smart, instead of just saying it. Case in point, the developer team.

Good for short term employment, but not a place for long term career building.

I worked at Planit Advertising full-time

    Pros

    Nice office.
    Good office location (Inner Harbor).
    Beer in fridge.

    Cons

All cool, high profile projects always go to one upper level designer who shrugs off crap work to everyone else.
80-90% of your work will be crap work.
Management is a bit obsessive on controlling employees.
Low salary and only ok benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen up and spread the upper level projects around.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
