Pros
One of the best reasons to work at Planned Parenthood would have to be the flexibility given to employees to maintain work / life balance. The leadership of the organization can empathize with its employees needing to take time to address personal matters by adjusting your schedule accordingly.
Cons
There is a lack of coaching to assist those in junior level positions to move upward through the organization. Many employees have been there for a number of years, which may prohibit the continuation of one moving up the responsibility ladder.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership should provide more career development opportunities to those who are not middle management. Perhaps this could be done on a quarterly basis.
Pros
Laid back environment that allows flexible schedule. Great deal of autonomy. Chance to help develop policy and enact change. Fun
Cons
extremely disorganized, no real chance for advancement, low pay, ideas are often dismissed because other team members do not have corresponding skills and/or experience
Advice to Senior Management
The way that the workplace is structured is not conducive to development and growth. communication lacking. no room for advancement but that is exected in small, non-profit offices
Pros
Gained communication and patient care experience. I learned how to move and make decisions fast and used my nursing skills.
Cons
The support for advancement is not there also management needs development in communication with employees and clients also people need proper training before starting.
Advice to Senior Management
Please put educated and qualified managers also teach staff retention to other. Control office gossip give more feedback and assistance with committed staff.
Pros
Very nice people
Good working hours and benefits
Extraordinarily rewarding mission and goals
Diverse issues
Good amount of responsibility even at more junior levels
Cons
Upper level mismanagement -- except for CEO -- is surprising
Favoritism in promotions
Irrational hiring and firing, which means that attrition and turnover is demoralizing.
Advice to Senior Management
The dysfunction flows from the office of the COO downward. If there is change in that office, there is great hope.
Pros
Great place to learn, especially if attempting to get into nursing or medical school.
Cons
Senior management need to visit clinics to understand how overworked and underpaid those staff truly are.
Advice to Senior Management
See cons.
Pros
mission driven. intrinsic value to daily work
Cons
few growth opportunities. very few opportunities in middle management.
Pros
Excellent non-profit organization to believe in.
Cons
No room for growth or pay raises within the company. Stagnant.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure the bottom of your company reflects the top.
Pros
Mission, co-workers, schedule. Namely I enjoyed the actual on the ground work that we were doing helping people from all sorts of backgrounds.
Cons
The pay was barely enough to live off of. I kept having to remind myself that the money I wasn't making in salary was basically a donation to the agency.
Advice to Senior Management
Transparency in communication is essential. I survived a round of lay-offs but some of my friends weren't so lucky. The rationale we were given was very weak.
Pros
Great co-workers, great opportunities to advance, You can say at the end of the day that you really helped someone in need.
Cons
As with any large organization the little people are the ones that work the hardest and actually know how things are run. But the decisions about how things are run and done come from behind an office door, and from manager that never really step foot in a clinic.
Pros
Good co-workers, good benefits, OK salary
Cons
They dont treat their employees right. They cheat the medicaid system by claiming charges the patients didnt incur. They ridicule the patients and staff behind their back. I would never refer anyone to work there or become a patient there.
Advice to Senior Management
Have some respect for your employees. They can either help you grow or be the cause of your downfall. Each employee you have cheated will tell others and they will in turn tell others. Stop cheating the government and defrauding the Medicaid system. You will get caught and you will lose funding.
