I have been working at Playtech full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This is a good company. Lately a lot of things are going on..like changes, like switching postions. But this is relevant for some people and units only. The rest... we'll see...

    Cons

Actually no career path is offered. The bonuses... you can get one good if you're about to quit, but actually you still get. Every year increase of salary (not enough). The salaries are not adequate for the market anymore.

    Pros

The work at the company is challenging, and software developers are very talented.

    Cons

The management is very poor. Team leaders don't engage much, there's lack of information as they don't say what's going on until they've done what they wanted. I haven't felt particularly engaged because of that.

I have been working at Playtech full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Playtech has very wide scope of solutions and technologies. There are a lot of interesting high profile clients having very fascinating business needs. The solution challenges you with high performance and scalability needs.

    Cons

Top management is extremely low quality, apathetic and unprofessional. Top managers leading local teams do not appreciate what they have and easily offend local culture. On ther other hand local managers and people are quite professional and nice to work with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would stronglu suggest to learn effective leadership and then apply to improve the overall performance culture.

I have been working at Playtech

    Pros

Nice people and local management really seem to care about their staff

    Cons

No training, poor appraisal system, salary reviews and bonuses always delayed because 'the board didn't get round to it', lack of communication, employee engagement is poor and no one cares, lack of company goals and objectives, massive favouritism around the country you are based in, local managers try but are constantly at the mercy of poor upper management decisions. Despite the companies success, they do not look after their staff - just their senior management and 'friends'!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look after the people who are actually doing the work that makes you so successful!

I worked at Playtech full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

A very pleasant working environment with very nice people and a great atmosphere. HR department consisted of the most competent individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with and do their very best to hold it all together. Salary and benefits compensation are quite good, as is work / life balance. There is some potential for career growth, but it is very limited considering the fact that the company is quite small and higher management level leadership is limited to a select ethnic group. As a multinational company, you are exposed to a very diverse group of individuals.

    Cons

Despite being a leader in the online gaming industry as a platform / turnkey provider, the company is run without looking at the long term, and their positioning / forecasting abilities are almost entirely reactive as opposed to proactive. One might say that the company reflects a sophisticated startup as opposed to a corporation with a high maturity level. Focus is on staying competitive, but is achieved by providing a robust, feature packed, shaky and immature portfolio as opposed to providing consistent stability with the most popular products. Reinvestment into the employees is a joke, and is done on a "half-shoestring" budget. All employees are always notified about the increase in quarterly and yearly profits, but besides that very little effort is put into keeping the employee informed about the vision and direction of the company as a whole which robs the employees of any motivation and feeling like they are a part of a company as opposed to a worker bee who will simply run the gauntlet until they are burned out and leave on their own, or forced out. Efforts to make the employee feel like an individual contributor are strong in the beginning, and overall is basically lip service with industry standards ( team building events, quarterly awards, etc.) Employee turnover is quite high, and there is no profit-sharing program to speak of. Career growth opportunities are very limited ( junior > regular > senior ) etc. If you are an idealist, then don't look for employment here with the idea that you will change anything and that your warnings will be heard any farther than your direct superior. Reinvestment into the infrastructure is again reactive, and getting anyone to hear your warnings which involve any sort of expenditure is a fruitless effort. Higher management change positions more than the illustrations in the Kama Sutra, which also keeps employees at a distance and uncertain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If upper management cannot glean any advice from the Cons that are listed in this review, than they should go back to school. My only real advice is this: Be trailblazers, don't be robots with a title and fancy business card. Make Playtech a company that people really want to work for, not a place where they work because it was the best option and they have to.
