    Pros

Great benefits and great experience in an international company. The CEO, CFO and other high level management were very friendly and personable on visits to WI.

    Cons

Not much chance for upward mobility

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sick leave would be a great benefit to have

I worked at Poclain Hydraulics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people and travel were great.

    Cons

Sometimes the recurring conflict between departments was difficult

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The rules for personnel with the same job title and experience should be the same regardless of location.

I worked at Poclain Hydraulics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Fairly good benefits (Health Care).
Decent Bonus Plan (if you get it).
The people you work with are top notch.

    Cons

Toxic environment, where everyone is looking to get out. Very oppressive feel to the place. The hours expected to work are minimum 50-55 hours a week or you will be looked down upon, so forget about work life balance. The management will micromange-- they will review every email, power point, work instruction. All 8 levels of managers stretching to France. The plant is a fairly dangerous place to work as well....for truck traffic, unlabeled chemicals, people on boom lifts with loose tools.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Good luck!

Former Employee - Manufacturing Engineer in Sturtevant, WI

I worked at Poclain Hydraulics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    -Solid Vacation offering
-Plenty of training and travel opportunities
-Learn all about job functions outside of your immediate scope

    Cons

-Immediate scope can and will be expanded past anything that resembles a reasonable workload
-Lots of firefighting, leading to temporary/incomplete solutions, which causes more problems down the road
-Individuals are great, but the overall structure is copy and paste out of a bad high school movie. (Lots of cliques, quite a few overly aggressive tendencies for some individuals).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management just went through a large shuffle, and seems to be putting in better supports. There MUST be improvements to production, quality and maintenance staff, or things will continue to fall apart.

I worked at Poclain Hydraulics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Payed Christmas Shutdown & good benefits. Co-Workers were good people for the most part.

    Cons

Oily! Horrible Management that bite off more than they can chew and force the workers to "get it done". No appreciation for hard work, and No empathy towards the personal matters off their employees... Over-worked and underpaid. Hands down the worst company I have ever worked for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to what your employees are saying and show a little appreciation for their hard work... Also if you are going to force people to work 60hrs a week the least you could do is show up on a Saturday every once in a while...

I have been working at Poclain Hydraulics full-time

    Pros

Lots and lots of training on current product is available
If you like to travel; there is a lot of opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally

    Cons

No internal communication between departments; limited internal communciation between employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Plan and communicate or allow employees to make decisions; stop telling employees to limit themselves to defined roles
Employees do not feel apart of the organization nor integral to it's future becuase few employees feel that Management cares about them at all; employees are disposable

I have been working at Poclain Hydraulics

    Pros

Benefits are above par, more than average vacation time. Health is 7.00 a week pre-tax but the deductibles are high. 2 weeks vac your second year and 4 weeks after 7 years.

    Cons

Buddy system is on full, they want those who go along and definitely no free thinkers. "friends" are promoted from within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Quit Micro Managing!

Former Employee - Applications Engineer in Beijing, Beijing (China)

I worked at Poclain Hydraulics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Provides opportunities to start an international career from scratch. The Application Engineering Team is also very supportive and people are easy to reach. The broader role of the Engineer was also to be at the interface between the sales team and R&D bureaus, but also between the Chinese and Western work culture

    Cons

Due to the company size, most of the managerial positions are locked and climbing the hierarchical ladder can take lots of time. The Application Engineer position's aim can be somehow ambiguous as some managers may want the Engineer to stay focused only on his first role while others would like him to be more involved in the broader business

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Discuss about the role and responsibilities of the Application Engineer in China to better identify his annex tasks

    Pros

Mobilité internationale, accès à la gestion, bonnes idées entendues et adoptées, très rapidement

International mobility, access to the management , good ideas to heard and adopted, very fast

    Cons

Un certain manque de standardisation des processus peut entraver la croissance rapide. Mais cela ne cesse d'évoluer et c'est maintenant qu'ils peuvent suggérer des changements et avoir un impact.

Some lack of Standardization of process may impede the fast growth. But it is continuously evolving and that's were all employees have room for suggesting changes and make a dent.
