Good dealer to work for, considering typical dealer environments.

Sales Consultant (Current Employee) Chantilly, VA

Prosnon micromanagement style, unless you need it.
great location, but running out of space
effective managers, that work hard, and care about sales

    Consgross display of favoritism
owner is only interested in bottom line. In a customer service industry this only works for so long.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake opportunities fair for everyone, so morale is even, and negativity has no root.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

New salespeople are hired to be cannon fodder

Sales Consultant (Former Employee) Chantilly, VA

ProsGreat product line. Smooth sales process. Decent pay plan.

ConsThe company has a core of about 19 sales people who have tenure with the company. They hire an additional 10 more to cover traffic on Saturdays. They have an up system that is designed for the core salespeople which guarantees that the new sales people will fail. Management does nothing to help new people. You will not have access to credit unions, buyer's programs, house deals or any other established sources. They would not even allow me to call service customers who do not have assigned sales people. House deals are doled out to sales people based on favorites. These house mice have to pay their dues in one way or another. The lady sale people are often seen outside of the dealership with their benefactors.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo advice. The company is one of the top in the nation in sales, so the owner doesn't care about anything else. Management is untouchable and can do what ever they want. The good ole boy style of car sales is alive and thriving at Pohanka Lexus. I don't believe in Karma. These guys have no consciences. You still want to work there? You have been warned...

    It was emotional.

Auto Tech (Former Employee) Chantilly, VA

ProsIt looks great on a resume. The staff is nice for the most part, excluding senior staff. The environment is clean and orderly. There is great lighting in the work bays. The shop is air conditioned and heated. You have access to a break room with a refrigerator, microwave and Krup coffee maker. The shop doors are quick to open and close automatically. Shop is open 365 days a year.

ConsSince the shop is in plain view of customers it must be kept clean. The shop floor is white ceramic tiles that are more slippery than concrete and even more so when wet. This leads to a dangerous working environment. The lifts are single post in ground. You can not bring your own tool box. You must have a cart. Bays are shared by multiple techs throughout the day as there are two shifts. The first aid box is empty. The brake lathes are in a poorly ventilated and hot room. Even though the shop has A/C it was always set to 89 and the doors were ordered closed. Even when it was cooler outside. The shop has many big windows that don't open. There is no hand cleaner, wash basin nor towels. Low pay compared to regional average. Shop is open 365 days a year. No stereos allowed. No shop fans.

Advice to Senior ManagementRedo the shop floor to an anti-slip surface. Lower the A/C to 72. Update the brake lathe room. Change to a single shift system and allow techs to have their own toolbox. Close shop for holidays. Install wash basins in the shop with hand cleaner and towel dispensers. Restock the first aid cabinet and maintain it. Replace the lifts with industry standard rotary lifts. Increase pay to compete with regional averages. Allow for add-time to warranty jobs when correctly documented.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
