    Pros

Great workplace energy. Lots of little daily perks like fresh fruit in the afternoons. The 'Feeling Lucky?' button that occasionally dispensed a cold beer. Management encouraged breaks to socialize and play foosball. The Catused team on the second floor, while we had our own specially designed workspace.

    Cons

Management failed to live up to promises for salary increases. Company took Agile too far towards sweatshop once they took away everyone's phones and drawers and forced full-time pair programming on all developers. I love Agile methods, but there is a happy medium that is better for workplace morale.

    Advice to Management

I don't even know if management is the same any more since the company has changed hands.

    Pros

Fellow employees were great. Lots of potential with a solid customer base and great customer opportunities. Great legacy software that is easy to sell and very useful to real estate professionals.

    Cons

Leadership was very poor. Management is disconnected from reality.

    Advice to Management

Get involved in the industry and take a leadership role. Put more effort in to understanding your customers and building software that matters.

    Pros

When I worked there, they had great perks for the devs like fresh fruit every afternoon and a great break room that doubled as a monthly pub/party setting. The place had a very fun and young vibe. They also tried to be on the cutting edge, which made it a good place to get your feet wet in all sorts of new languages or processes.

    Cons

Before they were bought out, the company was very dependent on a limited number of fluctuating contracts. When it was going strong, they hired like mad. When it wasn't, things got tight and people got laid off. I worked really hard, got great reviews, was told to expect raises on several occasions...but the money was never there when the time came. Big disappointment. Since they were bought, I've been told that things went downhill.

    Pros

    Agile development practices
    shortened workweek
    management accessible
as in smaller city, commute to work is not very long
some possibilities to move positions (horizontally + vertically)

    Cons

    still some "old school" management
hard to get a pay rise or adjustment to market level for very talented individuals
just been acquired by a larger company with a big developer base overseas

    Advice to Management

let your employees know how valuable they are to you
you have many very talented individuals, give them confidence in what they are doing
no "superheros", "go to" persons needed - your teams can make great decisions, come up with good ideas themselves

    Pros

Great culture and atmosphere, allowed to be creative and share ideas. Very little managing and interfering from execs. Close knit group of people.

    Cons

Smaller company, so room to move up is limited. No bonus or compensation above salary when it's deserved.

    Advice to Management

It's great that management want to be involved, but it's important to include important people in meetings and conversations. Try to keep the customer in mind first!

    Pros

Great rec room, staff lunch every 2 weeks, friendly coworkers, laid back office environment, good compensation

    Cons

getting development issues fixed takes a long time, which is frustrating... but there is a balance between moving forward and fixing the past.

    Advice to Management

Good leadership. Great career. Thanks for providing an opportunity to work with a technology company within a small city like Saskatoon (200-250k pop.)

    Pros

Agile Process. Aiden is amazing and has a world of knowledge. Great facilities and perks. I like the facilities and some of the people are very approachable. I like the fact that they are constantly trying to improve their process.

    Cons

Some managers are good workers but don't have good management skills. I also worked in a time between transitions. Some of the legacy code is quite scary and separation of concern is quite a problem in the homes side. I'm not sure they promote professionalism. There is time for casual environment but I believe the work place requires professionism. My manager wore a hockey sweater, shorts and sandals.

    Advice to Management

Monitor your employees more and communicate more with employees.
