I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time

    Pros

Some of the best managers in the industry. Had the opportunity to work with some really great people who cared about us. Discount is alright I guess...

    Cons

Such a tedious job. No one at a store level has any say in what goes on; managers seemed unable to make decisions in their own store. Feels very much like a big brother culture. Managers always stressed which made an uncomfortable atmosphere. The job is ultra tedious, dull and repetitive. Following the same procedures day in day out which everyone hated. Associate morale was terrible. No one wanted to be there, just seemed to be a temporary stepping stone before going elsewhere; high staff turnover. Long, tiring hours for terrible pay and no rewards. Polo is a company that continually takes, but never gives back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the pay better. Cut all the unnecessary tasks which are boring your staff half to death. Give managers more flexibility in the store they are meant to be managing.

I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very structured, fenomenally successful American brand that will add bonus to anyone CV's. Great collection presentations, staff parties, VIP events for clients, HR is very helpful, reviews are regular

    Cons

Not exciting when based in department store, feels different in UK (I guess in US Company is just outsanding). Not great for quick growth opportunities. Work life balance wasn't great as located in dept store

Current Employee - Sales Assistant in Bicester, England (UK)

I have been working at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Some of the best and most capable colleagues in the retail sector and also a discount policy that is none too bad.

    Cons

Low pay, lack of appreciation by managers and a largely incompetent and ineffective payroll and resources section. Lack of prompt and correct payment a major issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ralph Lauren does not engender loyalty hence the rampant thieving by employees (and lack of reporting of said thieving? and poor shrink results. Perhaps a well thought-out incentive scheme in order to reward employees who go the extra mile?
