I worked at PolyVision full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Before the Steelcase corporate takeover, Polyvision was a great company to work for - almost like a family. Everyone knew each other. Lots of company get togethers and interactions.

    Cons

After the takeover, the Steelcase corporation began dismantling the company and layed off most of the workers plus reducing the pay of others even below what they were hired at. This caused fear of losing jobs which didn't stop others from losing their jobs anyway. NO ONE was happy at the company except for the Steelcase stooges put in place to dismantle the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing to advise. The company is barely in business anymore. I don't see it lasting much longer. To top it off, Steelcase has no clue about how to properly run this company.

I worked at PolyVision full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Original company with original owner was an awesome place to work.
    Exciting, family atmosphere.
    Good salaries and hours.

    Cons

After Steelcase took over and kicked out the original owner, it was on a solid downhill slide to nowhere. Laid off a bunch of people, cut the salaries of those they kept and kept the worthless managers they needed to fire. Had it not been for the decisions of a particular manager, PolyVision may have pulled out with the Thunder product, but it was grossly mishandled.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No advice necessary. Finally closing the doors to the main office and downsizing.
One word - don't keep ANYONE you had before from Steelcase.

I have been working at PolyVision

    Pros

Company has very flexible hours. And ability to work unsuperviised.

    Cons

Too many meetings, no support from management. No decisions are ever made Deadlines never met. Always working in a reactive mode. Cheap company...travel and salaries. Hires unqualified people due to low salary. Managment does not take ownership or accountability for anything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sr. Management needs to take ownership and accountability for their departments. Currently no consequences if not met, therefore nothing gets done.

    Pros

broad variety of work because everyone left is doing what 7 - 10 others did before they were let go.

    Cons

This is a company that had unique and ground breaking products. They just couldn't develop into durable hardware and software.
