I worked at Porter Airlines full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, some great front-line employees, travel perks are awesome. Decent pay for the industry.

    Cons

Management as a whole did not care about their front-line employees, lack of communication, organization, and understanding. Virtually no opportunities for keen employees looking to advance in their career internally. Terrible HR Department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more opportunity for career advancement.

I worked at Porter Airlines full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flight Benefits, located right downtown so no need to go to Pearson to work for an airline, People on the front lines are mostly fun to work with

    Cons

Too Many too name. Horrible Pay that is about 50% of what you would be paid at a real company, Horrible bosses who barely graduated high school and are no telling you what to do, Horrible work conditions with outdated equipment and massive understaffing, terrible treatment of employees who are overworked and disrespected hence why tons of people are always quitting and never being replaced which makes for even more work to cover them. No possibility of moving up in the company and no information is shared with employees who are purposely kept in the dark by the VP's as to what they're planning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating employees like they work in a 3rd world sweatshop. Hire better upper and mid level management since the current managers are a complete joke and would never be managers anywhere else except maybe McDonalds

I worked at Porter Airlines full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Great staff travel discount ($30 round trip anywhere in Canada/up to $80 for US)
    - Great staff travel on partner airlines
    - Free food (from lounge/flights)
    - Great coworkers

    Cons

    - Bad Hours
    - Poorly trained staff and supervisors
    - Bad expectations of the ground staff; requiring you to basically do everything in the airport, other than clean the toilets!
    - Any passenger that's friends with Mr. Deluce got away with being extremely rude to every employee at the airport, all because he didn't want to upset his friends/social circle -- passengers would get away with murder and he'd cover it up if he had to!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Properly train staff
    Listen to staff
    Be former with rules/regulations

    Pros

Diverse set of problems to work on. Flight benefits, standard benefits package, employee appreciation rewards and contests.

I have been working at Porter Airlines full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most people who work there are amazing, I have made lifelong friends. That will be the hardest part to leave but at the end of the day if you are looking to further your career, it may not be the best place.

    Cons

Unless you are a VP, they offer low starting salaries with minimal increases on an annual basis. Promotions are not based on hardwork or loyalty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more proactive, less reactive in all types of situations.
