    Pros

Technology is the core business of the company. You can find a lot of competent and talented people to work with and learn a lot working with them.

    Cons

Company living thru difficult times leads to less perspectives of developing a career, witch leads to young people leaving.

    Advice to Management

You should bet on retaining talent, preventing the investment (of time and money) necessary to train people going to waste.

    Pros

Great learning experience, fast paced industry where a lot can happen in a very short period of time. The company provides great management and business experience and the coworkers, are by and large, friendly.

    Cons

Prospect of internal growth is very, very, very limited. Even with a career management policy developed within HR, it only promotes growth if and when there are no budget constrains.

    Pros

Big size company with diverse roles you can opt for. Technically ahead of the competition having the benefit of past biggest investments in the country. Being constantly afraid of loosing market leader position, causes a very energetic workplace environment.

    Cons

Lack of competence in certain management positions Heavy on red tape. The burden of legacy processes, often lacking explicit information sources due to past inefficient organization methodologies.

    Advice to Management

Start to apply general concepts about retaining and motivating valuable resources. Human resource practice was poor and inefficient towards company vision, mission and objectives.

    Pros

A very technological company where any professional can work with the latest trends of technology. Also very good to empower your knowledge and connections trough the world

    Cons

A company that is not following regarding their HR the latest trends and innovation as they do in technology. Is a TOO old company with a lot of employees that simply don't care, that is getting payed really high and taking chances for those who sweat for the company

    Advice to Management

Clean the old dogs, and the old political jobs inside the company, Simplify structures and motivate the ones that give always the extra mile

    Pros

Broad scope of technologies to work with, if you're in IT. Great market recognition. Looks good on the resume. "Full time company workers" get enough training and technical courses and other benefits.

    Cons

IT Contractors are usually treated like numbers. Aggressive work relations between different departments, plain disrespectful sometimes. Higher managing positions are still "job for the boys". Way too many "project managers", way too few "engineers". There is no concept of overtime compensation for IT Contractors (especially in PT Comunicações).

    Advice to Management

Show some respect and recognition towards your employees. Stop with the outsourcing madness.

    Pros

In Portugal Telecom you work with the best telecommunications engineers in Portugal and develop and manage state-of-art network and service platforms

    Cons

Management is old fashion, lack of incentives, lack of objectives, lack of meritocratic processes in place and difficult to develop a career plan
