I worked at Potbelly Sandwich Works part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice story, clean environment, good sandwiches

    Cons

Micromanaging in every form, disproportionate high load on entry level workers, too low a pay for all that labor, high turnover rate, micromanaging by sups, managers, regional managers etc. Not caring for employees but requiring them to smile.

    Advice to Management

Reward hard work ---- pay more. Be respectful of employees. Respect employees in and out time. Don't make them miss class because the next employee did not come. Plan effectively beforehand not to have gaps between employee hours.

I have been working at Potbelly Sandwich Works part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are the best part of the company. I really enjoyed working with everyone. The quality of the products are also impeccable. The company has a wonderful culture and really tries to maintain it.

    Cons

Sometimes the work can be stressful but that goes without saying. There are also times when handwork can go unnoticed. Promotions are not always given to those who deserve them.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget that your associates are people. Give credit where it is due. Promotions should be given to deserving and competent individuals.

    Pros

Free meal after shift. Excellent job for when you are just starting out. Fun people to work with.

    Cons

Didn't offer long enough shifts. I found that I would work and then a few hours later it was time to leave.

I have been working at Potbelly Sandwich Works part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is great place for someone who wants to move up the ladder. Full-time is 30 hours and you get insurance after a year if you work 30 hrs.

    Cons

You can't always get 30 hrs. The shops are slow during the winter months. The customer needs to be served within 8 mins. They are always short staffed. Saturdays are super busy and when a shop is short handed it becomes chaos. You work very hard for little pay just to make a sandwich.

    Advice to Management

It's just a sandwich. 50 hrs a week for a general manager and an assistant manager is excessive. Always being short staffed does not provide excellent customer service or positive energy.

  9. Excellent experience

    Pros

Great people Fantastic environment Great training Easy to pick up

    Cons

Horrible pay long hours Basically was forced to do my own work as well as co-workers who were too lazy or didn't work fast enough. instead of being rewarded for finishing quickly and efficiently I was given their work load each time. It isn't worth the minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees the correct amount for the work they do

    Pros

The managers really do want you to succeed and move up in the company.

Not the best people are hired. Sometimes people are hired just because they someone new

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Potbelly Sandwich Works part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is always a good atmosphere to work with at Potbelly. The customers AND employees are so energetic and excited to be there. Being a the youngest on the crew (17 years old) I feel like I am a little sister to all of them and that they are truly my second family.

    Cons

There are some less qualified people that get hired..so it can sometimes be difficult to pick up the slack because the front line requires a full force team ethic.
