Not a place to stay for too long

    Learning Community Coordinator (Current Employee)
    Prairie View, TX

ProsThe pros of this position are lots of free time. Specific deadlines, but you get to decide when to actually do the work. Working with college freshman. Build up your management experience. Very laid back and not too stressful most of the time,

ConsLots of last minute meetings. You are never really off, students bang on your door at all hours of the day and night. You must live a certain lifestyle because you are always being watched, you live where you work. You cannot spend more than 5 nights away from the property. There are lots of nighttime events that you must attend.

Advice to Senior ManagementMs. Barker is amazing. She is one of the bosses. Our direct manager has not yet been hired.

Thankful for the opportunity, but not a place for long term career growth

    Academic Professional Staff (Current Employee)

ProsWorking with the students and feeling welcomed by them.

ConsLargely incompetent leadership with a few who are trying to make positive changes, but are held back by the old guard.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your employees to prevent such a high turn over and there needs to be change from the top down to change the culture from unprofessional and inconsiderate management to professional and supportive of employee innovation and professional growth. It would also to help with providing employee discount on tuition if it means keeping talented and driven employees from being scooped up by other universities.
