Former Employee – worked at Pratt Industries USA full-time for more than a year
Pros – Good Pay, Lots of opportunity to prove yourself and move up.
Cons – Politics. Deadlines associated with next day fulfillment. The box business isn't as calm and quiet as you would think. Every employer has a political structure, just be neutral.
Advice to Senior Management – Managers can fall into the pit of not understanding the function of jobs below them. Take time to meet your employees and understand what they do.

Current Employee – been working at Pratt Industries USA full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – I'm glad to be employed. Some of the co-workers are good to work with. Unfortunately that's it.
Cons – This is the most inept, incompetant, lazy, self-centered, finger-pointing place I've ever worked. The are all about the customer, which sounds great except for the fact that they will do anything the customer asks for, no matter the cost. Emergency orders that disrupt every other customer's schedule (at no extra charge); the customer changes their price between the quote and the PO, we'll process it no problem. No accountability. Orders are routinely shipped but never billed or tracked. Defective product is shipped constantly. Management won't tell you directly if there's an issue, they'll tell someone in another dept. to tell you about it. If you question something, it's seen as a personal attack and is met with a very defensive attitude. Communication is terrible and everything is done as a reaction. Very little pro-activitiy for anything. The focus is numbers, certainly not the employees.
Advice to Senior Management – It's hard to know if upper management doesn't care about what happens here or is so out of touch that they haven't a clue. My gosh, it doesn't take a lot of effort to see this place is drowning. We can't keep existing customers and new customers leave shortly after they come on board. There's a reason for that. There's a reason that turnover is so high. No appreciation for the work that's done, only a mention of how people should do better. Set records for production? Nothing...Run less today? Then you get lots of attention. It's really sad that there is so little regard for the employees here by the local mgmt and by corp. mgmt. It shows that the interest is solely money, not people.

Former Employee – worked at Pratt Industries USA full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Good pay for area. Home nightly.
Cons – Four general managers; five plant managers; six shipping managers...all within eight years. Employees? All gone many times over with the exception of one employee in eight years.
DON'T STOP..RUN AWAY. Management was either too corrupt, incompetent, punk or coward.

Current Employee – been working at Pratt Industries USA full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Can't think of any-customers don't like recycled liner board as it cracks and does not have the same strength of virgin liner. Competitors know this and take away customers. Also, recycled liner is not less expensive than virgin liner.
Cons – Saving money is more important than customer satisfaction. Many employees quit and went to competitors.
Advice to Senior Management – When you promise to help someone with a problem-follow through!

Current Employee – been working at Pratt Industries USA full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Great benefits! We are rewarded for our safety as well as maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We have a local Dr's office who is available to us without any co-pay and with less wait than a normal patient. Room for growth within all divisions. Tuition reimbursement with the encouragement to learn and grow...
Cons – It helps to know someone to get your foot in the door.

Current Employee – been working at Pratt Industries USA full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Profitable company; offers good pay and both monthly and quarterly performance incentive bonuses, 401k match, tuition assistance. Comprehensive in-house employee training and continuous safety education. Company managers and execs are accessible to all employees and create a close knit, informal family like environment, often providing rewards for meeting production and shipping goals (leather jackets, barbeque grills, camelbaks, flashlights, concert tickets and cook outs for production employees who may have to work holidays, etc). Employees are generally positve, knowledgeable and hardworking. This facility, in my opinion, is an excellent place to work. I would recommend Pratt-Shreveport to anyone - no doubt one of the best places I have ever worked. And with mills, corrugating plants and finishing plants throughout the U.S.(and steadily growing) , Pratt offers the potential for career growth.
Cons – Not necessarily "Cons", but its not all fun and games. Production and shipping employees are exposed to extreme temps. Shift work requires an employee to be available 24/7. (But any manager or supervisor will be working along with production staff) - Slackers need not apply. Managers and supervisors are tough and demanding, but willing to teach those who are willing to try.

Current Employee – been working at Pratt Industries USA full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Employees are good people to work with.
Cons – Does not see the whole picture of succession planning, growth for its employees or concerns. Too much independent and self directed plants. Not working together as a whole.
Advice to Senior Management – Get everyone on board to become a team instead of letting everyone do their own thing. Watch out for upper management and the numbers game they play to manipulate the financial to appease the Executives.

Current Employee – been working at Pratt Industries USA full-time for more than a year
Pros – Pratt Industries was a horrible place to work. The best employees they had were the associates in the warehouse actually making the corrugated boxes.
Cons – The management team was awful and ruled with fear instead of actually teaching their employees how they wanted the job done.
Advice to Senior Management – TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN
