    Pros

The employees and management are wonderful to work with. People are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Great work-life balance is very good.

    Cons

Like most large companies with set processes, standards, and deep empirical knowledge, change/innovation is can take a long time to come to fruition.

    Advice to Management

The management at Pratt & Whitney is really great to work for. They are very understanding of work-life balance.

    Pros

Pratt and Whitney is a great company to be exposed to multidisciplinary engineering teams. This is helpful as a new hire to understand how to work within a role on a team. There are many people that are focused on results and willing to work hard. Some good mentors to work with as well.

    Cons

A lot of the current and future work is expected to be production support as the NGPF line ramps up. I think most engineers prefer to play in the sand box with preliminary design. However the company is in a position where a lot of work is working to support production.

    Advice to Management

The raise pool has been pretty small for the last little bit. There is a wave of new engineers that have taken on a lot of responsibility and ownership for the good of the company. If you want to keep people that have stepped up and earned more pay, you need to get them some additional merit to acknowledge their efforts.

    Pros

Access to advanced technologies and opportunities to support meaningful projects.
Access to a lot of training to support career development. Good attention to safety and ergonomics.

    Cons

Success can be very dependent on management styles. Large company makes it difficult to develop skills across job function without moving positions. Work load is often extremely high.

    Advice to Management

The ability to charge more than 8 hours per day would make project charging more realistic and support informed times lines for future projects.

    Pros

Great pay. Interns can expect to make around $3k-$4k. Lots of opportunities in PW and UTC after graduation. They have great rotational programs. Lots of great benefits, and the people are very open and welcoming. Lots of networking opportunities so I encourage interns to attend as many tours, lunch & learns, and other events they can go to.

    Cons

Although the pay is good, I heard interns actually get paid more than full times, which is discouraging

    Pros

Good Salary and still a few decent benefits. I am having difficulty meeting the 20 word minimum for "pro's", if that tells you anything about this review.

    Cons

Plenty of people, just wish all were pulling their weight. Benefits continually decline, despite future outlook thriving. Too many people use PW educational assistance as a place to advance their degrees, and then go work elsewhere. Retention is an issue. Export Control is HUGE, and has slowed a lot of processes down due to not understanding the issues. Facilities need an update.

    Advice to Management

The employees need to feel engaged and appreciated. Small tokens like a coffee cups, or minimal gifts are not enough to retain talent.

    Pros

great starting salary, friendly atmosphere, management helpful and supportive, hours flexible, balance of work/home life is encouraged and supported. Good rewards programs in MPE.

    Cons

miscommunication, sink or swim mentality, double standards for yellow badges vs blue badges, facilities are atrocious and in dire need of serious renovations, too many budget problems for such a large company.

    Advice to Management

keep promises to new hires, have a training planned outlined from day one, managers need to better recognize when employees have made improvements and efforts towards future goals, spend money better

    Pros

Great experience, developed professional skills applicable to any communications type job, exposed to corporate environment and functions, had a variety of responsibilities

    Cons

No training whatsoever which made it difficult to confidently do you job. Pratt is such a large organization at times you may feel overworked and unappreciated, competitive nature among interns, not a transformative company, very conservative, do not work here for the culture, I found it to be stale and boring.

    Advice to Management

Train your interns, bridge the age gap, transform the culture.

    Pros

    Very nice, friendly people.
A good mix of older and more experienced employees and recent grads.

    Cons

Getting started the first week (ie: computer access) can be cumbersome but I've come to expect that at most companies.
