I have been working at Pratt & Whitney full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Lots of interesting work. Very integrated, and they have a good engineering development program.Their scholars program is also very good, at 25,000 a year, and 60,000 per degree, but could be better.

    Cons

Salary is average and it's very cold in Hartford. Not a lot of room to grow unless you've been working there for 5 years already.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very good training and my experience with management was pleasant.

I worked at Pratt & Whitney as an intern

    Pros

The employees that I worked with were very welcoming and interested in helping me learn as an engineering student. I had many opportunities to work on diverse projects and experience growth in a wide range of topics.

    Cons

The process for returning interns was very nebulous, and I was not able to get another internship with them. Other than that, I have no complaints.

I have been working at Pratt & Whitney full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Education program is second to none. Also a great place to learn the engineering skills. Professional environment and nice people. Interesting work.

    Cons

Company will be cash strapped for the rest of the decade fronting the cost of its commercial engine ramp up. Budgets are ever declining and raises stagnate below cost of living and will get worse. No engineering union means management thinks they are doing you a favor paying straight time after you "donate" your first 5 hours of overtime off the books.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better raises, keep and develop the experienced folks.

I have been working at Pratt & Whitney full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

As an engineer with more than two decades of industry experience, I can say that Pratt & Whitney attracts some great talent, with a strong team environment. There's always something new to learn.

    Cons

Aerospace is a cyclic industry. Although there are great opportunities on the horizen for P&W - when the F135 and PW1100G engine reach production in full - in the short term, this means that the pinch is on to extract the maximum work from minimum head count at minimum cost.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Internal surveys always report the same issues for P&W to focus on: compensation, and making your employees feel valued. With the current budget pinch, this is becoming harder and harder to achieve.

I have been working at Pratt & Whitney as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

-Great pay for interns, higher than most other companies.
-Learned a lot during my internship so I could put it on my resume.
-People around me are nice to work with and are almost always willing to help.
-Flexible with working times, and manager does'nt have a problem with taking hour lunches as long as you do your work, and make up the time.
    -Lots of intern activities
-Hiring a lot of people due to influx of product demand

    Cons

    -Connecticut is expensive.
-Would like to experience more hands on projects instead of at a computer most of the time, but that depends on the group also.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As far as engineering interns management is doing a great job!
