I have been working at Praxair full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Praxair is a stable, financially sound company. So far, the focus and discipline on the next quarter and short term financial success, judgement based on each project performance rather than long term strategies lead to excellent results.

    Cons

The past and current approach also works against the company. The lack of significant innovation, due to limited resources in R&D, high turn over of specialists, the significant number of retirement in the ranks of people with valuable expertise without a strategy for knowledge transfer will set-back the future performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Speed up the innovation cycle by decoupling the R&D projects from their business sponsorship and request to follow the "RCP" approach the way is implemented today. Improve retention, and put more energy into career development and career progression. Better salaries may help as well.

I have been working at Praxair

    Pros

Good benefits, fair and freindly work environment, minimal travel, large fortune 300 company with global reach yet close to home.

    Cons

Too competetive, Limited opportunities for career advancement within ones own department, forced to seek outside of department for advancement. Salary structure not comunicated well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leaders should be more open with employees and communicate changes effectivly rather than let the "Grape Vine" be their best source of information.

I have been working at Praxair

    Pros

Very talented technical people to work with. Solid company for establishing a career. Management supports both career and personal growth. Management understands work/life balance - work hard, play hard

    Cons

Benefit package is overrated and terrible. Company maintains core focus on business, making changes to other areas slow to adopt. Project management adherence slows work execution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Knock down the silos and walls so that work can be completed with less paperwork and reviews. Adopt newer technologies for next generation of workforce (collaborative / remote office).
