Current Employee – been working at Praxair
Pros – Free parking, cafeteria on site
Cons – People have worked there forever, they appear to make money in spite of themselves. There is a good ole boys club and no opportunities unless you are in the club
Advice to Senior Management – More training for current employees

Former Employee – worked at Praxair
Pros – Very good employees, good programs for work/life balance or any issues you may have, good feedback from supervisors.
Tafa always had good benefits. Great empoloyee activities, (this said from someone who doesn't get any now)
Good Profit Sharing Plan and 401K. Excellent safety program.
Cons – No communication from upper management which enforces a rampant rumor mill. Since Praxair, Inc. bought them it turned into another huge company where you just become a profit maker. Tafa doesn't see any of the benefits of being part of a multi-million dollar company. (Praxair) I was finally making a decent hourly wage for the area (still low comparatively speaking) but I had been there 10+ years.
Advice to Senior Management – COMMUNICATE/FAIRNESS BETWEEN MAIN CO. AND SUBSIDIARIES

Former Employee – worked at Praxair
Pros – Praxair is a world wide compony with production facilities in all parts of the world. It is a major supplier of industrial gases oxygen, nitrogen, and argon to all forms of businesses. They have good benifits and wages, are fair to employees, with the possibility to advance in the company in your department or another . Extra training is available for employees who want to learn other areas of the business. Safety is one of the strongest points in the organization. Safety training is on going with monthly meetings and random spot checks. Annual training in Safety, Emergency procedures, Environmental procedures are completed. There is good communications between departments and people do tend to help each other out quite a bit.
Praxair does business with the government as well as indivigual companies. We are in aerospace, healthcare, steel making, power generation, food freezing, etc. I don't see the need for its products ever going away
Cons – Not much if any face time with senior management unless you are upper management yourself
Advice to Senior Management – Get out and see the folks more
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Praxair
Pros – Praxair seems like a solid company playing in a variety of different businesses, so it is mostly insulated from major economic downturn. Safety is number one on everyone's mind and taken very seriously. One of the few companies where you still get a pension in addition to a 401(k) and the whole health benefits. Lots of community and charity-event s are regularly organized.
Cons – As with most of the companies these days, there has been a shift over the last few years to focus on the quarterly results at the expense of the long-term strategy. R&D is being gutted as a result and the long-term opportunities are going away. As the international competition has consolidated through different mergers, Praxair is left with Air Products as the only 2 US-based industrial gas companies (although Airgas could grow into a serious contender in the future). Both of them have lacked the gut to serisouly invest in long-term opportunities recently, focusing instead on stock returns and are now at the threat of a large expansion into their home trufs by the European competitors. Steve Angel (CEO) applies the typical GE mentality of six sigma all over and the already mentioned short focus on quarterly results instead on long-term strategy. He is probably just trying to make the financials good so that he can jump ship to a bigger job.
Advice to Senior Management – Management is locking itself at the headquarters along with their lawyers seldom visiting the places where the real work is done.
