    Pros

Some of the people in the organization are really great. They care deeply and want to do well. Bond to those.

    Cons

Overworked, underpaid, divisive politics, emotionally placed band-aid fixes. I was actually told to not report important information up the chain because top leaders wouldn't like what they saw. In this day and age where we are so data driven, to be averse to seeing realistic information is mind-blowing.

    Advice to Management

    May God help you...

    Pros

Straight days, most weekends off. Decent union pay scale. New equipment. Provides all personal protection equipment needed. Has strict safety practices and policy. Never an issue in my 20 yes of getting paid correctly and on time.

    Cons

All segments of the business do not work together. Sales cares about sales. Operations cares about operations. And distribution cares about distribution. That makes for a difficult and frustrating work environment for drivers who have to deal with all three. Completely mismanaged at a high level. There answer to "making the annual numbers" is to surplus employees rather than grow the business with better pricing. Highest cost for their products in the industry. Local Teamsters unions are weak because each plant is represented by a different local rather than have a national contract with IBT and Praxair.

    Advice to Management

Better start giving a good product at a good price or you will be out of the packaged gas business. Quit worrying about idle time in trucks and more about your customers.

    Pros

Was one of better jobs I've ever had great people, great pay and a fun but tough job.

    Cons

The upper management needs to communicate with each other.

    Advice to Management

Try talking to employees once in awhile you could save a lot of money.

    Pros

Its a great place to get learn how to do a variety of different things, but if you are not an engineer or a MBA holder you can get behind the career curve quickly. Its a crazy profitable business and has a solid past and future.

    Cons

While its crazy profitable, rarely do lower level employees see any realistic compensation for their hard work. They enjoy cutting positions to cut costs and drive the financials for a better stock price. Its a publicly traded company so theres it in a nutshell.

    Advice to Management

Better implementation of new programs and better career advancement.

    Pros

Salary was very good. Benefits were Ok.

    Cons

No training, boy's club and very, very political. No mentoring network for women. They do really great at lip service, but not following through. I have been in manufacturing environments for the majority of my career. What I found at Praxair was the biggest boy's club I had ever encountered.

    Advice to Management

Promote more women in Operational roles. Take a look at all the executives. The majority are men. With the lack of experienced females in your upper ranks (except HR), you lack the diversity needed to excel in today's world.

    Pros

The best reason to work here is the people. Everyone is friendly and willing to help if you reach out to them.

    Cons

The worst part was the monotonous daily tasks that are extremely repetitive.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you are doing.

I really do not have anything bad to say about this company and would not have a clear conscience in doing so.
