I have been working at Praxair full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generally a positive work environment.. Most managers genuinely value your hard work, meaningful contributions, and feedback. If you are a good performer, there is typically plenty of room for advancement and growth.

    Cons

A small minority of managers are poor at dealing with people and are allowed to stay that way. Employee performance reviews are not consistent through the entire business so an honest cross-section of feedback on your performance is not always presented and weighed. It's a big company. Decisions are made slowly and change happens even more slowly.

    Advice to Management

Training for new managers on developing mgmt skills seems pretty minimal. Managers set the tone for your workers every day. Bad managers will bleed you of potential high performers in a hurry. Do better at identifying bad managers by soliciting anonymous feedback from their reports, and give them the resources to improve. My experience is that skills training for employees has suffered somewhat in the past 5 years. People want to grow and learn, or they will go elsewhere eventually.

I have been working at Praxair full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

As a first job in my career, overall, I think it is a good company to start. However, after several years, I feel like I lost momentum, interest, and direction of development. The growth opportunities are rare and I really need opportunities to motivate myself.

    Cons

Med insurance is not competitive here. Pay is ok but not great.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the growth of young employees.

    Pros

A stable and profitable company with a very diversified portfolio of customers. The company is very risk averse and it takes forever to present and convince higher management to do projects. After working for Praxair you will find yourself an expert in Project management.

    Cons

Slow culture where you should be prepared to wait before your project goes live.

    Advice to Management

Please catch up on R&D expense with your competition.
