    Pros

    You have a job.
    Overtime

    Cons

They overwork their employees (15+ hours OT )
    Underpay employees
    Very bad work environment
    Poor Management

    Advice to Management

They need to please learn how to manage. They mix too much personal with business, they play favoritism with certain employee while exploiting others.

    Pros

Stable employment, decent benefits though they no longer give profit sharing unless you are salary. vacation days are better than most companies.

    Cons

Too much management and too little of them know what they are doing. They are all about numbers, they do not care about your family life, work comes first. There is a lot of favortism and politics. The communication is very poor, they tend to change the rules as it best fits the company and the rules are unclear and not communicated properly.

    Advice to Management

    Quit!

  3. Initially very rewarding, but as the business grew larger, more pressure to sell, sell, sell!

    Pros

If you are aggressive and want to move up the ladder, there are plenty of opportunities. Very goal oritented company.

    Cons

Upper management sees the business as a profit margin company instead of a healthcare provider. They will push employees to work as long as they think you can, A 60 hour work week was the norm, not an oddity.

    Advice to Management

Get back to the basics of the business.

    Pros

There are many good people around you. There are very good technical resources in Tonawanda. The smart people are in Corporate.

    Cons

There are some issues with the level of internal promoting. Everything is influenced by a strong culture of office politics.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what the lower level employees are telling you. They are at the front lines. You are the policy makers. they are the money makers.

    Pros

Praxair has decent benefits, the work itself is okay, and for me, the job site was centralized and easy to access.

    Cons

Unfair and biased performance evaluation reviews, remote managers didn't truly understand your job responsibilities; far too many layoffs, resulting in far too much job stress.

    Advice to Management

Stop all of the layoffs. Yes, the economy is bad, but you are cutting far too many valuable employees, which is adversely affecting various turnaround times.

    Cons

People have worked there forever, they appear to make money in spite of themselves. There is a good ole boys club and no opportunities unless you are in the club

    Pros

    - Stable company that is a global leader in the industry
    - Great employees and co-workers who are at the top of their respective fields
    - Still offers 5% matching on 401K
    - Safety first culture

    Cons

    - In 8 years I have been through 3 major and 2 minor reorganiztions
    - There is no effort to retain or compete for talented individuals
    - The limited bonus structure has been updated 3 times in recent years to minimize what is paid out to employees. Now it is almost insulting
    - Praxair prides itself on being a technology company, but it is definitely not embracing information technology trends. Praxair is easily 10 -15 years behind the times, while our competitors make strides forward
    - Very politically charged, good old boy, silo type mentality.
    - Upper management not engaged. More concerned about immediate rewards for their reviews and bonuses over the long term stability and growth of the company
    - There are many unqualified individuals in technical management positions because of soft skills alone.

    Advice to Management

Advice: Foster an environment where employees don't fear the next reorganization. Be engaging and help to promote your employees through training and mentorship. Have a vision and promote it. You want us to be loyal to the company, well, give us something to be proud and loyal to.
