    Pros

People are great hardworking Benefits ok middle of road. Nothing to write home about. Bonuses stripped in 2008 and only apply to middle management to executives.

    Cons

Lean staffing more folks leaving for pay and quality of life concerns. Pay not increased as workloads continue to expand. Executive team is disconnected and don't put employees first who work hard to contribute to bottom line success of company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on the ground for a month as a tech or driver in the plant to gain perspective of what employees face with lack of resources and constant patching up of infrastructure

    Pros

I appreciate how their stock has perform over the years and made for a nice 401K. Financially they are solid and have long term contracts so even in tough times they have revenue.

    Cons

You cannot be too creative since you are most often dealing with hazardous materials and rigid procedures have to be followed. Most of the products are commodities so margins are very thin. As a result employees are constantly encouraged to spend less and less every year so upper management can maintain their high salaries. If eventually you do get a high paycheck, beware you may be laid off to improve the company bottom line.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a more pleasant office / factories. Locations can be very dreary and industrial. Take some hints from a Google or Pixar.

    Pros

    Quality training and safety training.

    Cons

Unsafe conditions created during employee turnover due to minimum staffing. High employee turnover due to midpoint benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Additional staffing would provide enough morale to retain best of class.

    Pros

The company makes an effort to ensure that its sales force is well trained. There is a network of persons in various departments that aid in the selling process. There is opportunity for you to work in a broad range of areas within the company. The company has recently been putting more effort into promoting internally.

    Cons

There is a MAJOR disconnect between upper and middle management. Many employees are taking on tremendous workloads and not being recognized for the work they are doing. People are beginning to get very fed up with poor salary and a steady decrease in benefits. The main goal of Upper management is to get money to the stockholders. NOTHING else really matters. They will terminate people and cut back on raises and bonuses to reach their promises to the shareholders. The employees are not appreciated, especially those doing some of the most dangerous jobs. This company is not conducive to a balanced quality of life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus needs to shift to the employees that make the company what it is today. Realistic returns to the investors should be considered that do not put your workforce in jeopardy of loosing their lives to make a goal.

I have been working at Praxair full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

For fresh from school people fast promotion without achievements, just based on expectations. For senior employees just pension plan.

    Cons

Company is lack of strategy. Senior managers and most of regions presidents do not have sales and business experience. They are selected based on internal politics.
There is no carreer plan. Company is worry about its image. Diversity program only works up to middle level like senior engineers. Going to higher level there is no diversity.
Company does not provide the same structure across the word in spite of goals are he same for all employees.
A lot of unskilled managers are causing potentail and skilled employees to look for opportunities outside.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote people based on skills and achievements, not base on expectations.
Do nt put diversity at the top when hiring.
Carreer plam must be managed by HR and not dump it on employees lap for them to take care of.

I have been working at Praxair full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, but slightly lower that surrounding Industry. People are great.

    Cons

Top Heavy in Management and Engineers. Not enough people at ground level to accomplish all that they expect. They promote Safety, yet there is only one safety guy that takes care of Multiple Locations. The paperwork is redundant and there is not enough time to really pay attention to the actual work that needs to get done. Took away our profit sharing and there are really no incentives, they say that we aught to be happy we have a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more people. Training. The LMS system is a good tool, but will never replace hands on training.
The Competition here in the South is very strong, we will continue to lose our experineced people to these other plants because of their reward system.
