Current Employee – been working at Precision Drilling full-time for more than a year
Pros – Very good long term employees and a lot of experienced people who can mentor you in learning and getting exposed to opportunities.
Cons – Very nationalistic - Canadian first, and not much opportunity for the rest (Americans).
Advice to Senior Management – Let the people do their work - get out of the way. Too much micro-management.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Precision Drilling full-time for less than a year
Pros – Pay, benefits, 2 weeks off, and Per Diem make up for the four weeks away from home.
Cons – There are no request days off. Its a 28 on, 14 off work cycle with very minimal exceptions.
Advice to Senior Management – You should hire people with a little more intellect and customer service in your payroll and main offices. I have had multiple occasions where payroll messed up and lost their patience. Its enough to make a field employee quit. There are smarter employees in the field than in your office
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Precision Drilling
Pros – I already have a job there.
Cons – It's a cyclical business. And there is not much downward communication about what's going on.
Advice to Senior Management – Let people know what's going on.

Former Employee – worked at Precision Drilling full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Good benefits
Loyal long term employees
Learned alot
Cons – Very sexist
Too many friends & family = favoritism
Too many managers
Advice to Senior Management – Internal audits of middle & lower management & their cliques. Clean up the corruption, abuse of position and PD name. Being employeed should be earned not cause you are liked.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Precision Drilling full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – As an hourly employee, there's lots of flexibility.
There's lots of room for growth
Excellent benefits.
Great culture.
Lots of long term employees, and young employees with long term aspirations.
Cons – Can be sexist.
Some divisions are a bit top heavy.
Can focus too aggressively on growth.
Advice to Senior Management – Take some time to grow into all of your current new service offerings, court your experienced employees to step into salaried positions now so that when the retirement wave hits we aren't left unprepared.

Former Employee – worked at Precision Drilling full-time for more than a year
Pros – Money. Some travel. Time off when summer comes.
Cons – Toxic work environment. Corrupt, egocentric management. Profit comes first, people last- in fact people are disposable here. If you value your carrer decisions, be warned, the money will not compensate you if your ruined here
Advice to Senior Management – Internal, secret audits for lower management, and employee conduct would ferret out the corruption. Lower management reflects their own self-interests to a fault.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Cons – miserable people

Current Employee – been working at Precision Drilling
Pros – The pay and benefits package are decent. If you like donuts you might get a shot at them once in awhile.
Cons – Lack of leadership & accountability by management. Accomplishments are not recognized. Sharing of information so one can further develop their career is minimal - some people can be more concerned about protecting seniority.
Advice to Senior Management – Director level management should be more involved with engaging employees under them or HR in terms of overall job satisfaction /performance reviews.

Former Employee – worked at Precision Drilling
Pros – -Good Benefits though no opportunity to flex them for your lifestyle last I checked
-Social activities for Halloween, Valentines etc
Cons – -There are some good people and some bad, hopefully you do not meet or have to work with the latter
Advice to Senior Management – Take extra time to shake the dust growing around offices and interact with the employees 1 on 1. Implement a process where employees can communicate their efforts, accomplishments, and concerns to senior level management.
