    HORRIBLE INTERVIEW PROCESS

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Preferred Systems Solutions

    Pros

NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. There is nothing nice to say, so why say something.

    Cons

TERRIBLE RECRUITING DEPARTMENT. LEAVE CANDIDATES WONDERING. NEVER RESPONDS BACK TO CANDIDATES. I've called the hiring manager (it was a recruiting job) and the recruiter and neither of them got back to me. I've also emailed them both and still nothing. I interview 2 months ago. I finally called today and the recruiter informed me that they changed the hiring criteria. Really? I'm ok with not getting the job what I'm upset about is not being informed of the process like I was told in the interview. This leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. I will NEVER EVER apply for a position with this so called government contractor. I wouldn't want to work for a team like this anyway because they don't let their candidate know nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the recruiting department notify candidates of their status. This is horrible the way it is set up now. Even when you call and email nothing. Why would someone want to work for a company like this.

    Pros

The company is willing to offer growth opportunities as long as you make it clear what you would like to do in the future. They offer tuition/certification reimbursement, which is a big plus.

    Cons

More tuition reimbursement would be nice, but understandable that it's not possible in this economy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on internal advancement, hire more "worker bees" and grow them into newer roles - the company is already doing a lot of this, but can always use more!

I have been working at Preferred Systems Solutions full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

A good solid company to for. The right mix of corporate support and mid level management. Great program managers to work with. Exceptional people to work with on a daily basis.

    Cons

The only negative comment is not about PSS, but DOD contracting in general. Feels very insecure at the moment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Business development needs to be the highest priority, followed by helping employees maintain ongoing confidence in business prospects.

I have been working at Preferred Systems Solutions full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Regularly interact with upper management.
    Good potential for career growth.
Management understands that the company rises and falls with its employees.

    Cons

Because it's government work, you can only count on work until your contract is re-bid.

I have been working at Preferred Systems Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great group of people to work with! No micomanaging; do your job and you will not be "bothered". Decent benefits. Most people who call are extremely polite and grateful for our help. This helps make this a very LOW stress job!

    Cons

NO communication at all! NO face to face evaluations, reviews, etc. Project Manager is basically invisible until he passes out gift cards for meeting or exceeding your performance goals. This causes HIGH stress for everyone. Also, no accountability. No one in a supervisory role who can deal with behavioral issues - afraid HR will come down on them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Any advice is probably too late now....most feel they would not have listened anyway.

I worked at Preferred Systems Solutions

    Pros

If you perform your job well, you rarely hear from PSS. The benefits are great and the vacation time is slightly above average.

    Cons

PSS does not reward over-achivers. Training is not accessible, unless the contract is paying for your time to take training. Communication is non-existent. Many times you will not meet your "manager" more than once a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with employees. Don't mis-advertise training. Treat employees like they are your product and you care.
