I have been working at Premera Blue Cross full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They train you throughly. They care. They want you to grow within the company. They pay well. They let You work from home. Flexible schedules.

    Cons

Parking if you get there after 9am. If You are hired as a csr it is a hard job, but you have a lot of support.

    Advice to Management

    None!

    Pros

Proud to be part of a company that is trying to make a difference in the healthcare industry that goes way beyond their own bottom line.

    Cons

The first thing I noticed when I walked in on my first day is that everyone is working so hard, it's too darn quiet... Somebody tell a joke!

    Advice to Management

Management does a great job at leading. The company objectives are well thought out and documented. They challenge their people and set very realistic expectations.

    Pros

Helpful supervisors, great benefits (a wide range of options to choose from for medical/dental/vision insurance), great company morale, lots of freebies. They have an awesome lunch area with all types of food serviced by Sodexho.

    Cons

I don't have anything really bad to say about them. Sometimes the call center could get hectic, but that is normal. I would work their again in a heartbeat if they were hiring!

    Advice to Management

My advice to management at Premera Blue Cross is to keep up the good work! Continue to treat each employee as an important member of the team and this company will go even farther than it already has!

I worked at Premera Blue Cross full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Supportive work environment Compassionate and invested management team Good compensation and benefits Real commitment to helping their employees be healthy

    Cons

Too little work sometimes and potential for boredom Some late nights required due to operating hours of department Some employees are resting and vesting

    Advice to Management

When hiring new talent and considering advancement from within the company, focus less on how good an employee looks on paper (ie, level of education, years of experience), and more on their initiative, creativity, and business acumen.

I have been working at Premera Blue Cross full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work/life balance, walks, challenging, rewarding, great coworkers, good salary, good benefits, good company to work for

    Cons

could get better entry level training

    Advice to Management

Maybe add more applicable entry level training. I want to hit the ground running but I feel frustrated because I don't know the basic protocols of my branch. Maybe this will just come with time..

I worked at Premera Blue Cross full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stable organization in growing industry; good opportunities for mentoring in multiple health insurance disciplines; good benefits package; assistance with furthering your education; flexible work hours in most job classes; possibility of telecommuting either full or part time for many positions; good campus location just north of Seattle.

    Cons

Big campus-bring your walking/running shoes; working with PPI in a cubicle with your back & screen facing the entranceway; short on parking; associates are not provided with orientation that is sufficient to indicate how/why different sections work together or in support of one another, which would foster better cooperation.

    Advice to Management

Please make certain that all of your team leaders from top to bottom really appreciate their team members beyond lip-service.
