I have been working at Premier Beverage Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Premier Beverage Company has a great culture which started for me the day I walked in the front door. You can tell people really enjoy their jobs and it was voted as a Great Place to work. The work is challenging and the company provides great direction especially for sales with their goal setting and management. I have yet to meet a manager here that I didn't feel was fair and acting in the best interest of the company. Their education and sales training are exceptional.

    Cons

Like any competitive culture with not a lot of turnover, areas of opportunity for advancement can be limited. As the company has grown, there are more specialized positions that have evolved. The growth of major chains like Total Wine have adversely affected many small customers and sales reps.

    Advice to Management

Our industry lends itself to a lot of rumors, either from customers, suppliers, competitors and other sales reps related to industry mergers, brand movement, etc.... Would like to here more form our top management on the vision and future. Understanding of course there may be areas of confidentiality that can't be discussed at certain points in time.

    Pros

Work independently, Learn about great wines. Nice sales incentives

    Cons

Many different balls to juggle and conflicting expectations. High pressure

    Advice to Management

Leadership courses to improve approach by mid managers to reflect more of a team approach and less micro managing would be helpful to all.

I worked at Premier Beverage Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits and compensation- however lower than other companies in the state Vacation is decent

    Cons

Can't trust anyone you work with Hours taken away from personal life with happy hours and night time events Zero support Few females promoted beyond middle level management Forced to push overwhelming amount of goals onto sales reps Standards not upheld across the board If you work for this company do everything you can to protect yourself Turnover is high and takes forever to fill positions People are promoted not based on ability but on politics

    Advice to Management

Get your act together. Making it to a billion dollars in sales does not give you the right to mistreat your employees. This company is not for people who want their personal time-change that. People will continue to leave to work for Southern and Coastal if you do not back off your reps a little. Everything cannot be a priority.

I worked at Premier Beverage Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Longevity, great health benefits, some of the best health care plans. The office staff is a great group of people, some of the best I've ever known.

    Cons

Pay scale is low - really needs to be inline with current median pay HR Department could use better people skills, and tends to side on management and very cold to employees Senior management is very sneaky, people pretend to be your friend to your face but in turn they are trying to back stab you or will eventually. There is only advancement if your are Friends with someone or relative or you've kissed enough butt- ALOT of NEPOTISM

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities too your administrative staff for advancement. Listen to lower level staff when they complain, chancces are they've experienced something you may be unaware of. Don't be so disconnected to your employees

    Pros

You have a chance to make a good amount of money, the benefits a decent and you do not have somebody standing over you at all times.

    Cons

It is usually a CF They never want to talk to you about compensation, they act like your crazy if you ask the question how much will you make. They do not sit down with you and explain their commission structure. If somebody actually failed a suit and make them open their records and books, I fully believe that it will show that they cheat some of their employees out of commissions.

    Advice to Management

Be up front how things really work, be realistic about what your asking and this is the real world so money matters so don't act confused when somebody ask the question how and what they get paid.

I have been working at Premier Beverage Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Work hours are usually 7-4 and work load, while sometimes high, isn't exhausting. HR will usually work with you if there's an issue with management.

    Cons

Lack of overtime due to wanting to keep employees as close to 40 hours a possible. Management can be very cold, tactless and uncaring. I was a perfect fit in my department and Management moved me to another department and wouldn't switch me back after multiple requests.

    Advice to Management

Read "The Art of War". It has a lot of good information on how to treat your subordinates, ie: "Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look upon them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death."
