Current Employee – been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time for more than a year
Pros – Somewhat of a community if you make friends with your coworkers. They have potlucks and other bonding type activities. There is an incentive thing where if you work well you get stickers to put towards a free giftcard.
Cons – Everything is dirty, unorganized, and the system is dumb and no one tries to make it better. The technology at the cash register is primitive-from like the 1840s. Half of the credit card readers are held up with rubber bands. The things that a cashier can do for the customer are very limited. God forbid I need to void the entire order or look up someone's PC card that's been worn off. I have to get a supervisor to literally everything so it makes the process very slow and painful. They barely told me anything when I was training, I am still learning things after a year that I should've known the first day. They always try to call me to get me to fill someone else's shift and I do it most of the time, but then I realized that they have no appreciation for it. I get paid close to minimum wage. The break room is dirty and inhospitable. There are no cups to drink water, the table is never washed, the bathrooms are disgusting. I actually love it when they make me get the carts so I don't have to deal with all of this. They are not accommodating at all when it comes to work hours. My friend tried to work here but had to quit almost immediately because they scheduled him for 3 times as many hours that he said he could work. They just didn't listen and they think that they can do whatever they want. I see people quitting all of the time. I am sure it is not this bad a every Price Chopper but the management clearly has other priorities since they aren't doing anything about this one.
Advice to Senior Management – Fix the things I said in the Cons section and actually do something to better the store. I don't even know who my manager is which probably means they aren't doing enough to fix these problems.

Current Employee – been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time
Pros – Better starting pay than most grocery stores in the area. Flexible hours for part timers. Paid Vacation after one year. 50 cent raise first year and cost of living raises. 7 minute window for punches.
Cons – Terrible hour cuts based on favoritism. Indirect communication. Management doesn't watch how Dept. Managers treat employees
Advice to Senior Management – Offer more full time positions. Investigate claims of favoritism further. Don't under staff when you cut hours, because the products and employee morale suffer. Offer clear production goals and regular feedback....instead of cutting an employee to 15 hours (Can't live on). Apply attendance policies to everyone, not just the ones you don't like as much. Listen more. Follow through with offers.

Current Employee – been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – People who actually work hard and do a good job can go far in this company. But remember it is a coustomer service job if you hate working with the public don't apply. Management pay is really good. My hat off to Scott Grimitt. Glad to see a suit with a set and a real plan.
Cons – Hard to get full time. Low pay to start out with. Those who make the up the rules should spend more time working in the stores and less time adjusting their suits.
Advice to Senior Management – Customer servises is number one and thoses who suck at it need to be FIRED no matter how good they are at the rest of their job!

Current Employee – been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The only pro thing i can really say is that they hired me due to the fact I have a learning disability called aspergers disorder which a lot of stores won't hire you if you have a disability
Cons – If you have a disability, you will be judged.
Favoritism is very high here, if they don't like you good luck on getting hours or moving up in company
Direct connect, can we use only one color for the schedule. very confushing and frustrating when you ask the supervisors about it and get two different explanations. when it is in red ink.
low pay, almost impossible to live on.
Advice to Senior Management – when a person says they have learning disability look it up, it will help you have a better understanding of it. Please put in a speed limit sign, or some one is going to get hit by a car. how come you can't get one of those giant cart covers that would keep the carts dry from rain and snow? please include a color legend on direct connect if you insist on using two different colors.

Former Employee – worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time for more than a year
Pros – the fellow employees are very nice
Cons – you constantly feel expendable, and the music drives you crazy
Advice to Senior Management – instead of giving your employees a 15 cent mug full of penny candy, that you sell in your stores, think of something better to show your employees that you care

Current Employee – been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time for more than a year
Pros – Price Chopper has flexible hours, many job opportunities and promotions, a great assistant manager and manager, and provides scholarship opportunities. This job is great for students look for just summer work or a part-time job.
Cons – This job can be quite monotonous, the customers can be unpleasant at times, there is only a short break, and the scheduling machine (Direct Connect) is faulty and unreliable. One of the big problems is over-hiring; this is good for people trying to find a job at Price Chopper, conversely this means that each employee gets less hours or fewer shifts.
Advice to Senior Management – Get rid of Direct Connect and create a better scheduler.

Former Employee – worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time for more than a year
Pros – Variety of day-to-day work, pleasant and competent management, work is not overly physically demanding and can be fun, great job for gaining experience in food service/customer service. I made friends with my co-workers and got along great with my managers. The workplace is safe, and clean. I was able to take pride in my work and my accomplishments and work ethic were recognized and rewarded.
Cons – Work can be difficult and certain tasks are very repetitive, customers can be demanding and rude at times, management and corporation representatives can be somewhat impersonal. The work and environment is not very intellectually or professionally stimulating.
Advice to Senior Management – The job would have been better had there been less of a disconnect between the objectives of local and regional management, and had there been somewhat greater oversight over individual department managers.

Current Employee – been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Works at saving customers the most money they can.
Cons – Not good at thinking outside the box.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to lower employees more and supervisors less. Talk TO employees instead of AT them. If you keep hearing the same complaint from employees then you have a problem. Try and find out the underlying cause not just the presented one.
