    Pros

There are a large amount of opportunities for those that work hard but, not many of them are full time. People can not support themselves with a part-time job.

    Cons

I worked very hard for almost 10 years, started as a cashier ended on full time night position. They are phasing out full time positions so they were hard to come by; when I left I was "full time" but only getting 35 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

I realize the company is trying to survive the fight against Walmart and other larger retailers but, full-time employees are more likely to stay for a longer period of time, will be more motivated to work, and more likely to do the best job that can be done in the given time frame.

  2. Good work environment overall, still run like a small business

I worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets (NY) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work environment. The people are nice to work with and there's good work/life balance. Good benefits.

    Cons

It's a little on the old fashioned side which may work for some. The company, despite its size is still very much run like a small family business. A lot of people come up through the retail side and have been at Price Chopper for a long time so it's a little intimidating and challenging for a new face, especially at the corporate side. Pay is also a little lower than one would expect.

    Advice to Management

Improve systems and communications. As much of a struggle as it is, the entire infrastructure needs a big technology update to streamline everything. There is a lot of manual labor for things that can be automated.

    Pros

Bi-yearly pay raises -- which is a plus!

    Cons

Employees frequently come in late with no repercussions. They also take smoke breaks, which should be discouraged but aren't.

    Advice to Management

Make stricter rules for employee attendance.

    Pros

The pay and benefits are decent.

    Cons

More and more rules are being implemented each day. They preach family and community but yet otherwise show it.

I have been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets (NY) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have a very limited availability and they work with what I give them. The people I work with are for the most part nice. Running register isn't very hard.

    Cons

Some of the customers are very rude. The managers are terrible and very strict. If you have to use the restroom at all you have to ask to go. I've seen some of the employees cry because of our manager.

    Advice to Management

Be more thoughtful about the way you treat your employees.

I worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets (NY) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hours were flexible and the working environment was good. The management really can dictate your experience, and I was lucky enough to have good managers. They made my work day pleasant.

    Cons

If the team is unmotivated or uninterested in performing their jobs, that can really make it difficult to do yours. They don't always seem to advance the best people, and don't seem to be the best at having different levels of management nurture each other.

    Advice to Management

You have to work on supporting and training each other better. You treat the customers so well, and you should extend the same courtesy to one another.

    Pros

Worked hard, fun working environment. I learned a lot as an individual and had the best flexible anyone could ask for while going to college.

    Cons

Low pay. No payroll, no help, some of the employees all hate their jobs, and life. You work very hard and on the weekends, and holidays.

    Advice to Management

Please give more payroll, stop trying to make sales with no help. People get hurt more because of the lack of payroll.

I have been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets (NY) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits come in handy, bad co workers do not usually last long. I just have to type 20 words here there isn't much good about it besides benefits haha.

    Cons

Management dismisses issues brought to their attention "dont be a snitch" i recieved multiple times. Refuse to fix damaged areas of the stores because we do not make enough money. they claim to be customer orientated but its really all profit

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. Benefits do not equal money for rent or food. Listen to complaints instead of shoving them to the side. (im looking at you store 29)
