    Pros

Decent pay for easy work, at least when it wasn't crowded.

    Cons

No real training, just thrown into the job and expected to learn as you go. Conditions and work environment were also terrible, expect to smell like alcohol after a shift.

I have been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy Job, Not bad pay for a supermarket

    Cons

Very stressful and takes on toll on the body.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the associates better; do not forget about the "little people" that help make that place it is.

I worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good for interacting with different types of people. Good starting job. Decent job for part-time hours. Clean environment. Easy system to learn.

    Cons

The management is awful, they put their tasks off on other people as opposed to handling them, themselves. Very uncomfortable when communicating with higher ranking co-workers.

I have been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Awesome associates, promotions are pretty good. Also the pay is some of the best around if you stick with it.

    Cons

Management sucks-full of older men who have no clue. They want you to do more and more with less and less help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to actually treat people. There are alot of managers if they don't like you will try and force you out of the company.

Current Employee - Assistant Store Manager
Current Employee - Assistant Store Manager

I have been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, top notch technologies, good people in the stores.

    Cons

Fresh grinds gone, store made cakes gone, full-time positions gone. Store Managers are threatened daily by their supervisors. Many lay-offs of many good people at our Main Office. Too many programs, policies, checklists, and other busy work; with very little focus on selling groceries. Store Management pay scales changed (lowered considerably) and no longer promoting from within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This industry is people driven. If you don't invest in your people they will leave or worse. This isn't a science and you can't have a program/checklist/policy for everything.

The family that owns this company needs to take it back for the employees. It is now run by penny-punchers from Safeway who don't understand people and promoting/investing/training the people that are already here.

I worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good job to start with and they gave me valuable lessons in responsibility and customer service.

    Cons

Management was passed around a lot from passing stores to failing ones, and this didn't make for a good work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't strangle your employees with new regulations, work them into the system. Don't move management around so much it can cause problems with teamwork and for bad teamwork.

    Pros

    They raise wages biannually,
    flexible schedules.

    Cons

    Favoritism;
Low wages, no more paid vacations, no more OT paid holiday hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please, bring back a benefit of paid vacations for part-time workers.
