I have been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Awesome associates, promotions are pretty good. Also the pay is some of the best around if you stick with it.

    Cons

Management sucks-full of older men who have no clue. They want you to do more and more with less and less help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to actually treat people. There are alot of managers if they don't like you will try and force you out of the company.

    Pros

Good job to start with and they gave me valuable lessons in responsibility and customer service.

    Cons

Management was passed around a lot from passing stores to failing ones, and this didn't make for a good work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't strangle your employees with new regulations, work them into the system. Don't move management around so much it can cause problems with teamwork and for bad teamwork.

Great coworkers, decent pay for managers

    Cons

Do more with less. Each year payroll us cut.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk into a Wegmans and you'll see what you're doing wrong. They provide great customer service because they staff their stores.

Started out great, went down hill with new upper management.

I worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The benefits were great. Great healthcare, vacation time, etc.

    Cons

The new upper management does not communicate as well nor do they understand the daily struggle of how a store operates. They were brought in from an outside company, unlike many of our former management who had started off as cashiers. They implement numerous "clipboards/checklists" that are truly a waste of time when we could be helping our customers. Our customer service went down hill fast due to lack of hours to give trying to use the new templates they believed would work. Mystery shoppers is another waste of time as we found out a good majority of them are lies but they affect our bonuses so I lost most of bonus. They expect you to get the work done but are constantly cutting positions. The company I started working for years ago was phenomenal and we all raved about it. I used to love coming to work but eventually I had enough of 50-60 hour weeks. There was no work/home balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate!!!! You always told us to make sure we had daily huddles with our team, but most of our part time team had no idea who upper management was because they would come in and not introduce themselves. You have to give what you expect.

Find out why we're going down in customer service. Maybe it's not us...maybe we can't be stretched so thin anymore.

Treat your people like they matter or they'll all start to walk out.

I have been working at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Right now, very few, Only the people I've worked with for the last three years,

    Cons

Hours cut arbitrarily, without warning. Expectations the same as if you had those 7 hours a week that they took away. New. Boss who is one way to your face and another behind your back, and is critical of everything you do. .. We had a great team before the changes. Now, it's horrifically awful to work in this place. They harp at you and get on your case if you are 5 minutes over your time even if you were talking to a customer. Sooner or later they will strip me of enough hours to lose my benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful who you put in management. This person is taking the bakery apart with their bare hands!!!!All for an almighty buck,.

    Pros

They gave me decent hours and pay for the work required. They worked with while I was going to school and made sure that I was doing work that would give me experience I could use with my degree.

    Cons

It is the service industry and it has all of the cons that come with that. Moving into a full time position is almost impossible.

I worked at Price Chopper Supermarkets part-time for less than a year

    Pros

There were not many pros besides meeting a few nice People and the pay was decent

    Cons

Where do I start? My manager wasn't the one who trained me, she went off to take 30 minute smoke breaks while leaving another employee to train me. The manager and assistant manager would abuse the breaks while there was so much to do. They would bad-mouth my other employees behind their backs. The sanitation is disgusting. They wouldn't wear gloves when working with the food.
