Pros
Teamwork, positive attitude and learning opportunities
Cons
Pressure and lack of work-life balance
Pros
Provides good learning in a short period of time and constantly challenging
Cons
It gets hard to balance work and life.
Pros
Challenging / competitive environment provided a great place to learn and grow a career. Also really nice people that care about your career.
Cons
Work / life balance is sometimes difficult in public accounting, but this is always the case for any place you work
Advice to Senior Management
I would try to not make it a requirement for people interested in making partner to have to work in a different city first
Pros
I work with smart people
Cons
They make me pay for my own lunches when I travel on company business, and their is no longer any work life balance. I was once penalized in my performance appraisal for not being available after work hours...it was Thanksgiving.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach and understand who is actually generating the revenues for your company.
Pros
Great variety and opportunities available
Cons
No work life balance at PwC
Advice to Senior Management
Balance workloads better
Pros
Great place to work -- work life balance, great on resume, smart colleagues, team environment
Cons
Sometimes long hours, hierarchy is apparent in dealing with people
Advice to Senior Management
Compensation is not at par with other consulting companies
Pros
Great feedback, and ability for upward mobility is great. PwC also took a great approach with minimum layoffs with the hope of retaining top talent.
Cons
Pay tends to be a little lower than peers. Raises and promotions only happen once per year. Bonuses are some what small.
Advice to Senior Management
Complete review cycles twice a year for promotion. Also, give more transparency on what it takes to make partner, begin the partner funnel earlier in career.
Pros
good work-life balance in my area
Cons
Poor moral now with recent layoffs and feeling more are pending
Advice to Senior Management
Become more active in promoting the firm.
Pros
PwC is a great resume builder and a great place to work right out of college. You will definitely learn a lot while working there and be able to work anywhere you'd like once you've decided to leave.
Cons
Terrible work/life balance, cannot trust upper management, sexist office (very much an Old Boys Club place to work), promotion based on how well a partner likes you rather than the quality of your work or how much your clients like you
Advice to Senior Management
Management should focus more on their employees, listen to employee feedback and reward high achieving individuals. Management should also treat others they way they would have liked to have been treated before they made it to where they are now.
Pros
Lots of talented individuals
Variety of work available
General autonomy
Flexible work schedules
Pretty good admin support
Decent T&E reporting
Cons
Leadership challenged
Political ends justify the means
No unified vision
Limited belief in teaming
Inviduals not teams
Too much input
Advice to Senior Management
360 degree feedback
Quit setting unrealistic forecasts
Enpower people
Develop a leadership that people can rally behind
Fix the compensation model to reflect teaming and not just individual partner needs
