I worked at Prince William County Schools full-time

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Family friendly environment with focus on quality.

    Cons

While this school is excellent, the school district as a whole is less supportive. It is easy to get lost in the amount of information spead out so much.

I have been working at Prince William County Schools full-time for less than a year

    Pros

It's ok if you have a second source of income, pays a bit better then other non degree jobs 15/hr. Good schedule Mon-Fri and weekends off.

    Cons

if this is your fulltime job you are not going to make it through life they do not pay enough. Benefits are very expensive to include copays and such. Turn over rate is ridiculously high

    Pros

PWC County Schools has good benefits and is fair to their employees.

    Cons

Lack of raises. Schools are considered part of local government so due to the recession increase in income had remained stagnant for several years.

I have been working at Prince William County Schools part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible, organized (sub call system + online eschool solutions subfinder). 10.80/hr for nondegreed (or 81 dollars a day). Easy to work around your schedule.

    Cons

Fairfax pays better and depending on where you live can just sub there instead. Not many, though, really. When applying, make sure you have good references and that they respond. This is why I was not hired at first- mine didn't respond because they didn't see the email

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it clear that if your references don't respond than applicant can't get the job

Overall a good experience....just get rid of site based management

I worked at Prince William County Schools

    Pros

    Pros:

    -Great students and families.

    Cons

    Cons:

-Behind the time compared to neighboring counties in terms of educational programs and pay.
-Get rid of site based management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of site based management. Nothing is consistent from school to school.

  10.

As with other government entities, you have those that excel and those that just do minimum receiving the same pay raise

I have been working at Prince William County Schools full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Short commute and most of the people I work with are hard working and are constantly trying to find ways to do more with less.

    Cons

Little or no salary increases over the last several years. People that do the bare minimum are rewarded the same as the people that work extremely hard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to reward the people that receive excellent ratings on their reviews. We shouldn't be getting the same pay are those rated avg or below avg. Incentive way would be great.

I worked at Prince William County Schools

    Pros

Teachers and staff work hard, help each other and are great at what they do

    Cons

Unethical practices from management, they only care about making the grade on SOL tests so they don't lose their funding, they run off site-based management instead of system-wide management, site based management allows for many abuses of power

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose ethical practices- Test scores are not everything, find other means for funding rather than doing unethical practices just to make the grade because you are afraid you will lose your funding, treat your staff better and don't always trust or assume site-based management is good
