    Pros

ProHealth really has a community based feel - big enough to have specialities and the full cycle of services, but not so big that I'm just a number. Instead of waiting for someone to ask my opintion, I've joined committees on topics that I care about and feel my input matters. I really like not having to battle Milwaukee traffic/construction to get to work.

    Cons

Healthcare in general is a challening area. If you are looking for an environment where nothing changes and you can keep bankers hours, health care is not for you. But it's one of the most rewardning areas to have a career and it will always be there if you are flexible and open to new things.

    Advice to Management

Over-communicate when possible and follow up.

I worked at ProHealth Care part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The pros about working with Prohealth Care were the great coworkers, the excellent physicians and staff, and very good benefits.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the new upper management has turned the focus away from patient care and on to business profitablility. Upper management also does not understand how their changes directly affect morale and patient care.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to spend some quality time at the clinics, watching the receptionists, CMA's, and doctors daily for several weeks.

    Cons

Poor handling of new employees, inappropriate matching of preceptors to new people, computer issues constant, lack of communication, lack of support. Crash courses in their EPIC program. Too many demands in short period of time.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

    Vacation/PTO is pretty fair.
They are very patient when changing or implementing new procedures and allow a lot of time, sometimes to much time in my opinion for people to catch on.

    Cons

Wage cap has not changed in 10 years. Instead of a raise to show appreciation for the work you do they give a 1 time bonus which is the same for everyone no matter how good or bad your review is.
Management is very dishonest and secretive. They do not respect or even ask for input from the people who actually do the job when they implement changes, which is very often.
Unless you have a degree, there is NO room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Listen to and respect what the lower paid employees have to say. After all they are the majority and actually work in the environment. It looks really bad when you make changes and have to keep making changes because your egos think you are above asking the peons how things actually work, what works, what doesn't work and what the patients are actually saying to the employees that they actually come in contact with on a regular basis. We are the ones who hear the complaints and get yelled at by patients on a regular basis.

I have been at ProHealth for over three years and it is by far the best hospital that I have worked for!

    Pros

    Great employees
Good relationship between staff and doctors
Caring for patients is second to none.
    Modern facilities and equipment
    Excellent wages
We seem to be doing well financially when others are not.

    Cons

Some of the long term employees refuse to acknowledge that the healthcare industry is going thru change and will not give up the past.
We need better and more thorogh communication on what is happening with the organization.

    Advice to Management

Please give employees more than one update on an issue. We deserve REGULAR communication as new changes occur.

    Pros

    Good pay, autonomy, good benefits

    Cons

Often go into toxic environments in home care, smokers, filth, hoarders, dealing with Medicare rules and regs, computers that continually malfunction and waste time. (and, they're new)

    Advice to Management

Don't admit patients whose environments are not healthy for staff. Communicate better in the ranks.

    Pros

Pay scale near top of the market and management does a good job keeping the equipment up to date. Good coworkers.

    Cons

Management keeps trying to do more, and more, with less staff. For a couple years it was almost impossible to get approved for time off due to lack of staff or coverage. It's still difficult but improving.

    Advice to Management

Remember that employees are the greatest asset of any organization

    Pros

I love nursing and working with patients! A feeling of pride when you see that you make a difference in someones life. It is my passion!

    Cons

Change in Healthcare is inevitable. Long term employees know this more than anyone. They have experienced it more than others because of their tenure. Experience should be embraced.

    Advice to Management

Communication always helps. Absent management fuels negativity. Advice is futile. Just wish people were treated nicer. Why is this too much to ask?

    Pros

I love working at West Wood Health and Fitness. Management is good. The facility is kept up-to-date and really clean.
The members and staff are fun to work with and one learns from them.

    Cons

Sometimes everyone needs a substitute for their work hours on a given day. Many employees are accommodating, but it is hard to find replacements for evenings and weekends.

    Advice to Management

Sharing what is going to take place with the company is fantastic, but if the timeline changes, i.e. for major upgrades or repairs--management should keep the employees in the loop. Members thrive on being "in the know". Keep up the updates for the employees. It makes us feel involved and important.
