Pros
There is a good internal structure of development and promotions from within. Economies of scale open up the whole world.
Cons
Management decisions can be tough to drive. Also, with such a behemoth company, things move sllloooooowww...it can be frustrating simetimes
Advice to Senior Management
Allow promotion of younger employees sooner. Perhaps a more entrepreneurial environment would be more conducive to innovation and growth. Support breeds support.
Pros
The pay was very high
Cons
It was impossible to get anything done because nobody would ever be around to help, and everything must be approved. And then I got a bad review because of this.
Pros
Very prestigious comapany, treated like royality when interacting with companies outside of Proctor and Gamble. Proctor and Gamble is very supportive of continuing education. Facilities are state of the art..
Cons
As a Gillette "carry over" life at Proctor and Gamble (P&G) was shear misery. "Gilletters" are second class citizens in the world of P&G. You are constantly reminded that P&G is superior to anything Gillette, including it's personnel. There are two sets of compensation and benefits; one for the "true P&G" employees and the other for the "Gillette carry overs". The lesson to be learned here is; if your company is being bought or persued for purchase by P&G, BEWARE. Despite what P&G may promise the employees of the tendered company, the reality will be misery.
Advice to Senior Management
Tell the truth to the perspective employees which may be comng into P&G via acquistions. That being they will never be treated as a "true" P&G" employee in that salaries will be frozen, benefits stripped, and the overall respect shown will be essentially non-existent.
Pros
Large company with scale to move into a leadership position in any market segment. Diverse opportunities for employment exist within the company.
Cons
Procter and Gamble is a company that focuses heavily on marketing and not as strongly on pure research and technological innovation.
Advice to Senior Management
You must do more to make acquisistioned employees feel that they have equal opportunities for growth and advancement as heritage Procter and Gamble employees.
Pros
Great place to learn, excellent training, very high quality people with strong integrity. Opportunity to work on great businesses both big and small. Great profit sharing program and compensation programs are very fair.
Cons
Takes too long to get promoted, and promotions feel like they're based on personal connections in the "boys network" vs. actual results delivered. Culture is becoming more cut-throat as a result. Also, drive towards efficiency is killing creativity. Marketers are becoming process owners and paper pushers rather than developing creative mastery.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more consistent about the criteria for promotion so that it's about what you do rather than who you know or work with. Stop making Marketing the "catch all" for whatever work other functions don't want to do any more.
Pros
Great benefits and employee support. Excellent pay. A positive environment.
Cons
Little too structured and a bit of an old company feel.
Advice to Senior Management
I had a great experience with all of my managers.
Pros
You will have a job. There are some nice people to work with that you will meet at PG. You can have a long and safe career with PG if you are willing to sacrifice everything but your job.
Ability ot travel world wide if you like to.
Cons
Company culture is extreme and there is no room for creativity. You will not be promoted unless you are a "yes" man. You must adhere to the "standards" at all costs even if you can find a better way to do something.
No respect for technology or peoples abilities to grow and learn. IF you work for PG too long you will have no skills to work for another company.
A company of managers and delegators and no one doing anything but paperwork.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your people...They are very unhappy. Cut down on the paperworkand actually accomplish something.
Stop patting each other on the back and actaully see that you are ruining the Gillette name.
Pros
Great place to work. I really like working for this company. Its an excellent place to work, and I always felt part of the team.
Cons
Great place to work, top management is good, life at this company is good, but I did not feel it was home to me.
Advice to Senior Management
