Quality Fortune 50 company to build your career with

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Cincinnati, OH

I have been working at Procter & Gamble

ProsGood leadership within management. The company invests a lot in training of new employees and encourages you to take on tasks outside of your job description so that you can grow yourself professionally.

ConsTheir career path system makes it almost impossible for hard working, educated, competent Administrative and Technical professionals to break into the management side of the business.

Advice to Senior ManagementLoosen up a little bit on the harsh restrictions for promotion from top level A&T to entry level management. This could be a great way to identify entry level managers who understand the work culture and are committed to the company.

Working for P&G

Production Tech (Current Employee)
Henderson, NC

I have been working at Procter & Gamble

ProsThe great Profit Sharing Plan, I have over 100K now, the dental benefits suck, medical is good,

ConsNot fair in promotions, its who you know and what color your skin is, this plant is mostly black, but that should not matter but it seems only black people get promoted, and even some black co workers are upset when they see someone promoted who is not qualified or have the mininum knowledge get the job over them, because of a personal relationship to managers

Advice to Senior ManagementTrat all employess fair

Top of your class? You're just average at P&G.

Senior Engineer (Current Employee)
Cincinnati, OH

I have been working at Procter & Gamble

ProsAbility to work with top caliber, type "A" personalities.
Tons of resources for training and networking.
Good technical vs. management tract within company.
Lots of opportunities to move to new positions within the company.

ConsHard to shine when everyone else was also a valedictorian.
Continuity is difficult when management changes. There is a need to scramble and show off to new management every 3-6 months as a new face joins the organizations.
Decisions are made by consensus which becomes very challenging in large organizations.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't shift managers so often that there is not continuity / accountability for the organization.

Promotions due to relationships vs. work, does not embrace innovation or experienced hires

Product Development Manager (Current Employee)
Cincinnati, OH

I have been working at Procter & Gamble

ProsGood training available if you can find the time to take classes.
good benefits
good pay

Consrewards come to those that are smooth talkers and can use others to do their work. Past work experience (10+) mean nothing, you start at 0 at P&G. HR slow to react to abusive and hostel working conditions even with others support if manager is seen as effective.

Advice to Senior ManagementSeek to understand other ideas that come from previous experience and embrace people and process that are "not created here". Understand the difference between a smooth talker vs. a hard worker that delivers. act on what you preach about for work life balance and allow people to work reasonable hours and provide them work loads that can be achieved in no more than a 50hr week. acknowledge and reward achievements and provide constructive criticism that will help a person grow. know who in management are good at building people capability vs. knowing how to navigate the system and speak Procties.

Good Place To Work. Very financially controlled company.

Account Executive (Current Employee)

I have been working at Procter & Gamble

ProsGood place to work. Great for home office opportunities as an Account Exec. Good work/life balance and top notch medical and benefits.

ConsNo ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Plan), Stock Options, Bonuses. As an AE there is no incentives to drive more business.

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer a discounted ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Plan) at 85% of the market high/low for a six month period as an incentive to save and invest in the company. Bonuses should be awarded for top performers at the AE level.

Life at P&G

Engineer (Current Employee)

I have been working at Procter & Gamble

ProsLaid back environment, casual work attire, tremendous technical resources to help with all you difficult questions, great salary and rewards system.

ConsLimited geographic choices (Cincinnati, Boston, Hunt Valley, Los Angeles - overwhelming amount in Cincinnati and few in other locations). You will have to constantly change roles to move up the management ladder.
