Current Employee – been working at Procter & Gamble
Pros – Lots of personal growth and leadership opportunities. There are almost no duds at this company. Great place to kick off you career for training-you'll be hot commodity when you want to leave. The company is held in the highest regard, especially in cincinnati where it's a badge of honor to work at p&g.
Cons – It cAn be really slow to move your projects forward because of ho much alignment you have to get from so many people.
Advice to Senior Management – Marketing still has too much power. The functional areas should be less segregated by now. Managers should be seen as business experts first and functional experts second, instead of the other way around.

Former Employee – worked at Procter & Gamble
Pros – Big Name, Well-known brands, Global Company, One can learn a lot. Many successful Executives started their careers at P&G after college. Provides good benefits (except Dental). At times, one gets to work in global teams
Cons – It is a very good company if you join after College. The entire career path is structured for fresh grads. There are set durations of assignments and growth. After few levels it is mostly up or out or one has to agree to stay at a certain level for rest of the life and retire. If one performs well, is lucky and builds connections over time, one can grow to the CEO level. AG Lafley or Bob McDonald joined as ABMs. Only people in Marketing rise to that level.
The company hires few experienced individuals every year as they may not have the skills in-house. These people really have a tough time. If one has experience up to 10 years years of experience, one should be ready to start career from entry-level. For people with experience who are not desperate they should stay away from considering P&G. Most experienced hires leave within an average of 13 months. They are not treated well. There are cases of people who joined with 10 years of experience and even after 12 years at P&G, they are still sitting at the same level. They do not get any benefit of past experience. Rather, it is a discredit. They are left out by peers or seniors who joined P&G after college.
Employees from acquired companies are not treated well because P&G is very inward focused and most people working had worked only for P&G in their life and never had exposure to working in any other company. They suffer from "frog in a well" syndrome. They do not consider people from acquired companies or experienced from other companies as P&Gers.
Advice to Senior Management – P&G should either stop hiring experienced people or absorbing people from acquired companies or create policies to bring them at appropriate level and determine their career path in a fair manner.

Current Employee – been working at Procter & Gamble
Pros – Challenging assignments, results driven promotions, career ownership, global opportunitiies; you drive your future. Flexibility for life-work balance with work-from-home options, compressed and part time schedules.
Cons – Career advancement is slower, salaries and ratings are fitted to a normalized curve - it can feel as if you have no control. Must learn to navigate Co. Bureaucracy to get ahead.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more transparent with advancement, ratings, and company direction. Competitor as as good or better than us, don't underestimate them.

Cons – P&G is a large company that can be slow at making decisions and bringing game changing ideas to the market.
Advice to Senior Management – We have to continue to understand our competition and we must always be 10 steps ahead of them to delight consumers.

Current Employee – been working at Procter & Gamble
Pros – The company's key asset are its people. Their actions reflect that. There number one principle is doing what is right. I believe that this is a company of very high integrity. The company is large enough that you can find just about any job you want to do. they have open job postings which is a very helpful career management tool.
Cons – It is a large company and there can be a lot of politics especially at the higher levels.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue

Current Employee – been working at Procter & Gamble
Pros – There is a good internal structure of development and promotions from within. Economies of scale open up the whole world.
Cons – Management decisions can be tough to drive. Also, with such a behemoth company, things move sllloooooowww...it can be frustrating simetimes
Advice to Senior Management – Allow promotion of younger employees sooner. Perhaps a more entrepreneurial environment would be more conducive to innovation and growth. Support breeds support.
