I have been working at Procter & Gamble

    Pros

    > Learning: Accelerated Learning. You're expected to lead projects with a multi-functional team from Day 1
    > People: Generally nice (no cursing/scolding etc.) and overall good sense of camaraderie with your peers
    > Workplace: Office is open plan, free seating, free fruits every other Tuesday

    Cons

    > Nationality-based Networks: Indian, Filipino, Korean, Japanese nationality groups are large and dominant. These networks inevitably influence who gets promoted or moved into which roles. ASEAN Talent tends to lose out. P&G is still a good place for learning, just beware that if you're ASEAN you may not get promoted as fast, or necessarily move into the higher visibility, more attractive roles
    > Too Big: Things move slowly because there's a long chain of people to get inputs from, and align. Sometimes even trying to identify who to get inputs from can be a nightmare. Anyone seeking to succeed here needs to be able to handle working with lots of different stakeholders, many located remotely and with different incentives
    > Weak Middle Managers: Not sure how some of the middle managers got promoted. Their judgement, ability to coach and ability to serve as good role models are questionable, and honestly not inspiring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try harder to groom local Talent and prevent Nationality-based networks from having such heavy influence over who gets promoted/moved into what roles. It's extremely de-motivating. And it's not like they are that much more capable - they're just better at talking non-stop to the MDs from their Nationality Networks.

I worked at Procter & Gamble full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Work-life balance, can work from home once a week
Flexible seating arrangements, you can sit anywhere in the office
Flexible working hours, as long as you finish your work, no one will care when you come or when you leave the office
    Colleagues are friendly and helpful
Multi-cultural working environment, focusing on employees' capability enhancement and development
Dynamic environment, always encouraging innovation and new ideas

    Cons

Quite heavy workplace politics, especially when you climb up your career ladder in the company
Sometimes, innovation is just for the sake of innovation, or just to show off in the annual action plan
Keep changing every year, overemphasizing on new process, which occasionally leads to inconsistency in certain areas

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. Just do not sway away from the P&G core values.

I have been working at Procter & Gamble full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The culture is really inspiring. The environment is built to make the people feel that this company is their second home. You are not only building professional relationship here, but also building friendship that will last for a very long time.
This is also a company with intense focus on family-oriented culture. You can easily understand that this is a company that is really worth to invest for a long-term career.

    Cons

If you are young and have a very strong ambition, this is not a place that is fit for you. You cannot grow super fast here, even though some people you meet will tell you that you can, but if you compare to other top companies that grow young talents, this company is still lack behind.
The compensation and benefit are also not on the top notch, and as more and more the cost saving pressure has changed the organization to be more conservative in giving those to the employees.
You should consider not to join if what you need is a 'sprint' career instead of a 'marathon' career. This company won't work for you as you won't work for this company.

I worked at Procter & Gamble full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Its a great exposure working in this company. With this company I was able accumulate working experience in many Asian regions and worked with the smartest people from top schools.

    Cons

This is a place where internal networking is necessary to get ahead. Work objectives is mostly driven by directions set by business leaders, they may not be the most innovative or competitive solution to win in marketplace.

I had a few assignments in Beauty category and business strategies are almost quite similar or almost repeated from brand to brand.

  10. I love working at P&G. This is the best place for a fresh grad with unlimited opportunities to learn.
