Pros
The people here are the best I have ever worked with. Everyone is willing to help you out regardless of the the circumstances. Not at all cutthroat
Cons
Corporate structure means that Canada controls little. A lot of work needs to go into before any analysis can be done
Advice to Senior Management
Have a more structured role training especially during onboarding with another employee so that assumptions and job requirements are clear
Pros
Respect. Diversity. Work Life Balance for most of the people.
Excellent training.
Cons
Complicated and slow.
It is such a good place that makes it so hard to leave, at the end one may miss out what could be a bigger opportunities outside
Advice to Senior Management
Continue do what is the best for the Consumers, Customers and Employees.
Pros
well, i was lucky to work in such a good company..
Cons
it was too much of a pressure and boring jobs so i opted for moving out. that was so uncomfortable
Advice to Senior Management
to be more specific in their applicaitons and directions. more staff should be employed.
Pros
Great exposure to business systems, thinking skills, etc.
Cons
International assignments required for career growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more outward looking.
Pros
First thing that comes to mind is the people. From the rigorous recruiting process to the tremendous personal & professional development offered, P&G really lives by its principles and values while creating a vibrant culture where like-minded individuals move businesses forward.
Second, P&G wants you to succeed! You will be lined up with a billion $ business, broadening cross-functional assignment and/or international opportunity if you prove to be a high-performing individual. The amount of responsibility is enormous. Where else can you run a multi-million dollar business (brand), with global resources at your disposal, all by yourself, straight out of undergrad at age 21?
Third, pay is completely based on performance - I got my first (very generous) raise only 6 months in on the job! Benefits are comprehensive and among the best in the country. Very fortunate to not have to compromise between personal/professional growth and compensation!
Cons
A lot of processes and systems that sometimes prevent us from being the most nimble.
Advice to Senior Management
Thank you for bringing me in! Continue to keep your promise to your people.
Pros
- Great people!
- Lots of idea sharing
- People are passionate
Cons
- Lack of work life balance
- Lack of mentorship to all. Should be in place for everyone.
- Too many processes!
Advice to Senior Management
- Would have liked to see less talk about improving work life balance and more action.
- There was always some process or another being updated or a new process being rolled out. I see that this was trying to make things easier, but in the end it just made us be constantly re-learning new processes, which took time and actually added complexity.
Pros
-Training
-Opportunities for advancement
-Employability outside the company
Cons
-Bureaucracy
-Lack of work/life balance
-Fierce internal competition
Advice to Senior Management
-To achieve better employee retention (esp amongst Marketers), a healthier working environment is needed (e.g. improve work/life balance, foster sense of internal collaboration vs competition)
Pros
Great training- really teaches you how to think; great pay; often working with very intelligent people who will challenge and develop you further
Cons
Does not seem to be the same company it used to be; after some time, you need to move onto another company to continue to grow and develop in your career
Advice to Senior Management
valuing diversity in employees skills and work styles will help retain the best employees
Pros
People, culture, great training ground.
Cons
Limited potential for growth unless you go international, but that's hard to get.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider hiring more future ABMs as Marketing Specialists so they can actually learn how to do the job before they are thrown into it.
Pros
A big name on your resume. working for P&G opens the door for many future opportunities in CPG industry.
Great people to work with. Communication is open and sufficient, and you can make friends with many lovely co-workers.
Great benefits.
Cons
Rating system is very political, does not always reflect the truth. your manager's personal preference plays a key role on your performance.
Not all the low-level managers are qualified. Many of them were promoted given the number of years they serve the company but not their talent. Don't be surprise to see your manager gives you lots of foolish 'coaching' or screaming at you... This situation will particularly hurt the new hires with experience somewhere else. You have to get start from the bottom given the promot from within policy, but your manager probably doesn't have the qualification to understand your talent and skills at all!
Very hard to transfer your skills and experiences to P&G if you are an experienced professional. You are encouraged to learn lots of complicated rules on how to get works done on P&G's way rather than your own, new ideas are not encouraged.
Work itself are pretty boring in Canada.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employee's feedback for their manager and weed out the unqualified some.
