I worked at Professional HealthCare at Home full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Working with caregivers and clients.

    Cons

There was no work life balance while I worked for them. I was on call 24/7 and weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to appreciate hard working employees. Compensation should be commensurate with responsibilities. Resume 401K matching since it has been 2 years since the last matching. Salary freeze should be lifted since management cannot even give a penny as an incentive for an employee to stay. The company means well but since being acquired by Kindred it seems that they have no say since the answer will always be "no" and management does not even try. .

I worked at Professional HealthCare at Home as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

The line staff were very professional and caring people.

    Cons

The company was bought out by Kindred and brought in hatchet people whose only goal is to climb the ladder on the backs of subordinates. Asking employees to be unethical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dump the old management models that falls back on punitive and authoritarian methods to get productivity. Trust the employees and use positive motivational techniques. Give employees a sense on power and control about their work.

    Pros

Growing company with the feeling that they are going to include you in on the growth opportunities.

    Cons

Growing company that disregards intense work loads. Many of the professionals are rude, uncaring and subversive to each other, as well as to any new individual hired. Currently has litigation pending for a hostile work environment and for good reason. One day of orientation then they kick you to the streets. Sink or swim ! The office staff knows nothing about the notion of being a SUPPORTIVE help from the office to the field staff. They will insist that a person perform work with unfamiliar paperwork, then set you up to sit down and "correct" the file ! With no orientation to the paperwork? It's a catch 22. Their paperwork is unrealistic, cumbersome, awkward. One example: what other agencies call "recertification paperwork" (typically done every certification period--about 90 days) they have case managers doing EVERY WEEK ! They have a different way of outlining frequencies, and YOU will have to get that help to understand it on your own time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get an outline for TWO WEEKS for orienting staff to the nuances of your business. Make it easy for field staff to access other company sites to deliver paperwork in a timely fashion !
